Saturday QOTD

So my coworkers love to tease me about all the things I say about "when I have kids"...I'm pretty sure they're logging things in a journal somewhere! Chat Icon One thing I've said is that I'd love to keep their toys simple, minimal things that require batteries. I've been informed that EVERYTHING now uses batteries to light up or make sound from the sit and spin to big wheels.

I thought it would be fun to do a picture post for this. What's a toy you LOVED growing up and would like to share with your LO. If, they still have it today, post a pic of the new version too.

I loved the Little People House. The new one makes sounds such as a doorbell and a toilet flushing.

I loved Little People stuff!

Also, when I have kids I will try to get them "open-ended" toys - toys that will foster creativitiy, imagination and that can be used in multiple ways. Imagination is not only a childhood play activity - it is a lifelong means of coping and problem sollving!!! I will try to stay away from toys that have 1 function, that can be used in only 1 way (which unfortunately describes most toys out there now). Because these toys are repetitive, and grow BORING for the child! So what do you do? You have to go out and buy another toy? And you wind up with 100 pieces of cr@p that the child never plays with!
