I am so nervous about this stuff... I am an only child.
I don't/didn't have too many interactions with babies... but hey, people have been having children for 1,000s of years DH and I will work it out!

Re: **********QOTD*****
Before I had my first child, I did NOTHING baby related. I was very nervous, but you get the hang of it. And doing all these thigns for a newborn is such a different concept that an older baby-- you are afraid to break them, afraid soemthing is wrong, they are sick, they are too cold, too hot... the list goes on... I wonder if it will be the same now that I have "experience".
As for a second DC-- I am not sleeping much as it is, so I am used to that. I remember the early days all too well, and I look at it as an end to a means if that makes sense.

Re: **********QOTD*****
I have never changed a diaper
But I have asked DH and he knows how to so we'll be ok with that I'm nervous about how to deal with the hysterical crying fits. I'm one of those people who is easily influenced by the emotions of others. If a baby cries, I kind of get upset. I will have to get over that QUICK!

Re: **********QOTD*****
i am terrified about how i will handle my already-stressful job and an infant. people do it, obviously, but i am always so tired as it is. as far as the physical stuff, diapers, etc. i think i'm pretty good with that bc of nieces and nephews. DH however... not so much.

Re: **********QOTD*****
When I had my first, I knew nothing. Yeah- I babysat as a teenager, but this was way different. We figured it out and did OK. DD is still young, so when #2 comes along we won't be too far into the toddler years.

Re: **********QOTD*****
i have a niece and a nephew so i have helped change diapers, feed and burp them, etc. Obv helping out occasionally is not the same thing as when you are a mom doing it all the time, but at least i know the very basics

I have experience with my sister (she is 12 years younger than me), but am I afraid sometimes of holding other's kids when they are under 3 months. They seem so fragile.

Re: **********QOTD*****
I've held a few babies, but thats really the extent of it. No diapers, bottles, burping....nothing. Fortunately I have DH who is amazing with babies and my Mom because I really don't have much experience.

Re: **********QOTD*****
I'm not really nervous at all, we have tons of nieces and nephews and have both cared for babies before.
The only thing I'm a little aprehensive about is lack of sleep, I need a lot of sleep to function and I'm terrified of what I'll be like with no sleep lol

Re: **********QOTD*****
Ive been surrounded by babies/toddlers/kids for the past 6-7 yrs in my family.. Even though I am really comfortable around kids...Im STILL SUPER nervous about being a mom. Not about changing diapers, burping, or quieting a screaming baby, but just about being a good parent. I always think of how I would raise my children to act/behave, I also think a lot about how their relationship with me as their mother will be gorwing up. It's so important to have a strong parent/child bond.. I worry about that a lot.
