Re: crying...do you? your thoughts please

I'm so sorry your RE was so insensitive. I'm a crier, and if someone tells me that I shouldn't be crying, it makes it even worse. Chat Icon

When Dr. B. was giving me all of my initial results, my feet were still in the stirrups from the hysteroscopy. He told me that I had a chromosomal translocation, which was the furthest thing from my mind. I was expecting so many other possibilities, but for some reason, never thought about the possibility of anything being wrong with my genetics! I was struggling to hold back tears, and as soon as Dr. B saw that, he said that I had "nervous eyes" and that he has seen plenty of them...and handed me a tissue, at which point, I let the tears fall. I loved him for basically giving me permission to cry and thinking nothing of it.

You need to be comfortable with your RE. There is no reason not to have hope every month. If there's no hope, then why even try? Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thats horrible that she was like that to you. Some of these doctors are in it for the medicine part and not the people part. Its horrible that some doctors dont have any bedside manner. Yes the truth is that even a person who isnt going thru IF has a small chance every month, that stating the obvious at a time where you are emotional is just rude.

I have cried in the office with my RE. I am not the type of person who can just hold it in and when I get frustrated I cry. thats just me. And this IF crap is really frustrating. So forget that doctor and go where you know that you are treated mind and body.Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I don't really cry...

But I was really depressed and gained a ton of weight during IF treatments.

Re: crying...do you? your thoughts please

The only time I cried at the RE's office was when I had my miscarriage after my first IVF attempt. I had to go back over and over to have beta checks because my beta was taking forever to go down. I remember sitting in the blood draw room next to another paitient. On my lab order that I had to sign, it said on top "IVF, pregnancy loss"

I took a glance over at the other womans and it said "ongoing, pregnant" I lost it.....

It's such a roller coaster. By nature I am NOT an optomistic person, and as crazy as it sounds, BEING a pessimist actually helped me cope. After 2 years of failed cycles, I had learned never to get my hopes up and I always went into a cycle expecting the worst, but not even hoping for the best. IDK, if that makes any sense. But it helped me. One thing also, is that I NEVER tested before beta day. The only times I tested were after my 2nd betas, just so I can feel somewhat normal and see that silly line on a pregnancy test.
