Would like your thoughts on something.

I haven't sent in the wedding announcement to the Binghamton Alumni Journal for two reasons: One, I'm a lazy bum (and that's really and truly the MAIN reason), and two: one of my bridesmaids.

Here's why.

The announcement should read something like: Bride '02 and Groom '01 got married on this date in this place. Person A '02, Person B '02, etc. were Bridesmaids, persons C-D (years) were Groomsmen, and Persons E&F (years) were also honored in the party. Also in attendance were persons m-z (years).
After a Hurricane Honeymoon Trip, The couple lives in Delaware.

So here's my dilemma. This girl (who went to Binghamton) *was* a bridesmaid. I don't want to take that from her, because she was a very special part of our lives at that time, and in some ways still is. However, things have since changed and we no longer speak as I consider it to be a matter of personal safety (as most of you know). Therefore I want to include her, but I don't know that she'll want to be. I'm not sure how she'd take it, to be included in our wedding announcement but no longer in our lives. I know I'd feel equally strange in her position.

And in any case, she's in the picture we're submitting. Think she'd throw a fit if we put her image without permission? I don't know. I do know she's got a lawyer's mind, and the person who we no longer speak to her because of is particularly litigious.

Mostly, I'm concerned that this is going to open up a can of worms. I hate worms. They're slimy and icky and frankly just gross.

I don't know, should I just not submit the announcement?

Rach, submit your announcement (Brad and I just submitted ours a few weeks ago). I don't think she'll have a problem with her name being there. Wouldn't she be more insulted if it were left out?

Why don't you just submit a pic of you and Adam, that way you don't have to worry about her being upset with being in the pic, but your announcement is still there.

I think I would mention everyones name and just a pic of you and DH.

Can you just send in a picture of the two of you and mention all of the other people except her? Or just a picture of the two of you and say "several other classmates" were in attendance.

I know Ithaca College no longer lists the fellow classmates who are guests in the picture. They saif it was a pain to try to verify everyone and make sure their name and info was correct.

This reminds me that I should send in our story. We went to college together, lived in the same dorm, had the same major, knew many of the same people but never met until 14 years later on LI.

The general consensus so far is to mention her name (I'd feel weird not mentioning it) and just put a picture of the two of us.

I think that's what I'll do, even though I *really* wanted to put that picture of everyone in the journal.

Rachel, maybe we will have our announcements in the same issue of the journal!!

I submitted the announcement via the alumni website and then e-mailed the pic separately. I didn't get any confirmation or anything..i hope they have it.

Jax, I've read that they only accept hard copy original pictures, because for some reason their printers don't handle digital copies of pictures, or print outs of digital pictures. Apparently they don't come out properly. I'd send a real picture through snailmail.

It *would* be pretty cool if we were in the same edition though, wouldn't it? Maybe Laurie can submit for it at the same time???

I would only submit your name and DH, omit the bridal party and keep everything else.

I read that they prefer hard copies, but there is a link on the alumni webpage to submit photos digitally. I asked them that if the photo wasn't good enough to let me know and i'll submit a hard copy. I didn't hear anything back.
