those who had OHSS and got BFPs
i had some mild OHSS after my ER. it went away around the day of my transfer and did not come back, which i thought was a bad sign. about 4 days after my BFP the symptoms returned. my stomach is HUGE, i look at least 6 months pregnant. i gained about 10lbs. my entire abdomen is in constant pain to the point where walking and eating and rolling over in bed are all difficult. im so excited to be pregnant finally but its hard to even distinguish whats a pregnancy symptom and whats an OHSS symptom.
i saw dr. B a few days ago and he said that i dont actually have OHSS, just that my abdomen is filled with fluid. he did bloodwork and said that my results came back normal. he said i should start to feel some relief by next week.
i feel like the symptoms are not getting any better and im becoming more uncomfortable. i feel bad emailing dr. B again if theres nothing he can do for me anyway, but im worried im going to have to take time off of work since i commute to the city and right now just walking from my couch to my bed is fairly uncomfortable. i already took off on friday cause i just couldn't do it, and i REALLY dont want to take any more time off at this point. anyway im just rambling but does anyone have any advice??? ive been drinking a ton of gatorade and trying to only eat small meals. but i just feel reallllllllllllly uncomfortable.... i know its a good sign for the pregnancy but i feel like such an immobile lump!!!! any advice?????

Re: those who had OHSS and got BFPs
I just wanted to say feel better!
I obviously haven't gotten my BFP, but I am definitely feeling the OHSS. It's terrible. My retrieval was Thursday and it got really bad yesterday. I also feel like a lump. I was supposed to go to a Halloween party tonight, but I haven't left the house. My abdomen is huge, and I too look 6 months pregnant. I'm just so so stressed that it will go away by Tuesday for the transfer. I will be heartbroken if they can't do the transfer.
Feel better and take the time you need. In the long run, you and your baby are much more important than work. I went to work yesterday and I totally regret it.

Re: those who had OHSS and got BFPs
i hope you feel better. My SIL had the same thing and her OHSS started from stimmng and it took a while to go down. Her advise was to stay away from sodium and salty things. She also at first was told to stay away from carbs which added to the issue. Shes 18wks and just a few weeks ago she said it was going down or maybe evening out with have a baby bump. Hang in there its tough from what i hear. I am sure you tried this too but she used a hot water bottle also to help with the pain.

seriously, if it does not go away, do not be heartbroken and do an FET. if you get a BFP it comes back with a vengence and its hard to function. i would love to be enjoying the first weeks of my pregnancy right now and not in pain and barely able to leave the house. after my ER it was pretty bad on days 3 and 4. by the day of the transfer it started to go down. when i did the transfer the doctor noted my ovaries were enlarged but they went ahead. i was so nervous when the OHSS didnt come back during the wait. i thought that there was no implantation since the bloat was completely gone and i felt normal again. well now its back in FULL force!! i went to work all week and then took friday off. it was difficult. i dont think i can take monday off and i really dont want to. but this is getting ridiculous... i think i might have to call dr. B again on monday....

Re: those who had OHSS and got BFPs

I would call Dr B now and explain to him how bad you are feeling, I wouldn't wait until Monday. Maybe he doesn't realize how bad you really are....

well from everything i read, unless there is vomiting, diarrhea, shortness of breath, and/or lack of urine, it's not considered severe OHSS. plus all of my blood came back fine (as of tuesday). i am pretty sure im not in any real danger, im just INCREDIBLY uncomfortable

Re: those who had OHSS and got BFPs
I hope you are feeling better soon. When I had OHSS the diet/guidelines my doc gave me said to limit my fluids to 1.5 liters a day. Too little fluid or too much fluid can have similar effects. Maybe the salt in the Gatorade is making you retain more water? I hope you get some relief and good news soon!

I just spoke to Dr. B and he seems to think all is okay. He thinks its just pain from the retrieval. I hope he's right. I don't care too much about the pain and being uncomfortable, I just want everything to be okay. Thanks so much. I hope all goes well for me Tuesday and that you feel better soon!
