Happy hump day ladies and hope you have your umbrellas!

I watched my DVRed How I Met Your Mother last night and it was about baby names and gender. So, has anyone ever "stolen" your baby name? Has a situation or person ever ruined your hopes for a baby name?

I love the name Philip because it was my Dad's name and he passed away when I was 15. Of course I'm going to name my first son Philip, but DH was tortured and picked on when he was a little boy by a boy named Philip! DH always rolls his eyes when I say I'm going to name my son after my Dad! I also loved the name Alexandra, but after two dipsy doodle students named Alexandra that dream is long gone! I'm now on to Ella! Don't steal it anyone!

not really...we did really like Lou (not Louis, just Lou) for a boy with the nickname Louie but it's my SIL's dog's name so that would be kind of weird! so i don't think we are going to go with that one for a boy - even though DH loves the name...

i am pretty sure we have the names picked out. now it's just a matter of everythiing being okay with the pregnancy and finding out what we are having...

we (well I) am psychotic and have had the names picked out already it was something we would talk about when we would talk about trying.

girls name i think i picked out when dh and i were dating, he agreed he liked it too, so the girl name is not even a discussion really...

if we have a girl it will be alyssa rose

now boy...there are tons of boy names i like so i never thought it would be hard to pick...but dh and i agreed that we like

but ive kinda become obsessed with Luke

Dh thinks he will get made fun of cuz it ryhmes with puke!

lol he said we are going to flip a coin to decide lol im only like 5 seconds pregnant so i could totally change between now and our babys due date!

nobody has stolen our names! i pretty much claimed i was taking alyssa for the longest. just glad i never met an alyssa i didnt like! and that dh never dated one either!

twilight ruined isabella for me. I had that name in my head before the series was even written, and SO doesn't like it. :(

No noone has stolen mine b/c we are pretty much naming after our parents..but honestly i wouldnt care if my BFF in the entire world named her child same as mine...

its my child and i give it the name for my own reasons..i mean there are tons of people out there with your name no??

you know I have!!! my names have been Caitlyn and Aiden for as long as I can remember.
Well, a friend of mine was preggo and decided on the name Dylan.. then her and hubby were back and forth and I said, please just don't use Aiden. It's been a dream for me.
Surprise, they had the baby and named him Aiden after he was born.
I was really upset about it at first.. of all the names.. why would you chose one we asked. Esp knowing how hard we are TTC.
But I dont have a LO and can't predict if will even be a boy so I guess I have no right to it. Still pisses me off a little.
now I have a number of names in my mind but wont commit until we'll further along in pregnancy.
I love Irish names though!

You know what, with me I really could careless if someone tried to "steal" my name because it wouldn't have stopped me from using it. When we were pregnant with my DD we told everyone the names we had chosen. If it were a boy we would've named him Hayden. Well, my stupid SIL "claimed" out of nowhere one day that she always LOVED that name and that's the name she is going to use one day. Well fast forward 3 years and she's still not pregnant and you know what, if she ever is and wants to "steal" my name she can go right ahead because I still planning on naming my son Hayden if we ever have one and she will look like a silly little copycat because everyone knows that was the name we had picked out for years.

As far as someone ruining names for me I would say that being a teacher that happened ALL the time. I would fall in love with a name and then have some kid in my class who made me want to murder and out the window that name went. I think people you know and meet always influence whether or not you stick with a certain name.

My only saving grace is I tend to like uncommon names so I don't usually run into many people who ever have my names on their lists. Thank goodness!

We have our baby names, I don't think anyone will try to steal them however, I like a name that my SIL likes too but its not a first choice.

Our names aren't popular. I do think our girl middle name is going to BLOW up! I don't care though, its after my Father so it has meaning.

One of the names I want was my sibling, who passed away, name. DH doesnt like the name and is kinda against it but will agree if we can make a daughter Isabel. I'm kinda over Isabel / Isabella b/c of Twilight & b/c they are so popular but its all about compromise I guess.

As far as other names....nope no one has ever taken any name that I made clear I loved and wanted to name by DC.

We have a boys name picked out that I love and DH is on board with as well, and a middle name I love and DH is iffy about. I really hope people dont steal our names! Unless its immediate family we would use it anyway.

I haven't told anyone our names.. well its not finalized yet, but still.. I don't want to hear any dumb commnets and I don't feel comfortable saying the name out loud, till my LO is here. Weird, I know.
