i like slim fit or sport - i think by playtex...
i don' use them too often b/c i get very very light periods...

What kind are you using? Not brand, but flow. Not to be too graphic, but is it soaked when you take it out? If you are taking it out too early or you are using super when you need light, yeah, it will hurt.

Thank you so much for the advice. I've been inserting upwards, not towards the back. I'm going to try this trick out tomorrow. Thanks again!
how did it go?
I tried Tampax Pearl, and it didn't go well but I did better this time. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I took everyone's advice and tried everything and it still just doesn't go all the way up. I think I get nervous and pull the applicator out too soon, and then half of it's in me and half out. Not a fun experience. I went through a half a box and gave up. I think next month I'm going to try Playtex Gentle Glide or Slim fit. Something has to work. Thank you girls again for all the advice and help.

Re: Let's Talk Tampons
Don't get nervous It can't get lost, it can't go anywhere and once it's in, you won't feel a thing! Don't give up!

Re: Let's Talk Tampons
Have you tried using some lube to insert it? It may help it slide easily in the right direction to help guide you. TMI, but when I put a tampon in, I have to angle it towards my lower back and towards the left side of my body or it won't go up.
You can't put a tampon in too far so don't get nervous! Good luck!

Re: Let's Talk Tampons
I find the easiest time to put in a tampon is right after a shower. I think its because you are relaxed. That's the mist important part is being relaxed. If you tense up it just won't work. I would suggest trying again after a shower. Also if you are having trouble the more you struggle with it the worse it will be. I would say try and if it doesn't work out try again in an hour or two. The more tampon you use the drier and tense you become. I hope it works out for you.

Re: Let's Talk Tampons
I find it easiest to put in if I kind of arch my back and angle the tampon, if that makes any sense. I push it in until my thumb and first fingerj just hit the base of the applicator Then I pull the strings to adjust it.
I don't know, it works for me, but you have to play around with it

Re: Let's Talk Tampons
I use only the playtex gentle glide, I can't find the slim fits anymore, i loved those though too. I only recently started using them as well, and its the BEST THING EVER. I could never go back. but a few things i learned from friends, wait until you see blood on the string to pull it out, if its not totally soaked it will hurt. Also, wear panty liners until you figure out the amount of time you can leave it in without leaking I also first started using them by resting my head on the sink with a towel under it and squating, its extremly easy to get it all the way in then. once you get it right a few times you won't need to do this anymore because you will know the right feeling and what to expect. GL next month.

Also try the OBs - there is no applicator and you use your finger to insert it. That might give you more power over the tampon so to speak.

Re: Let's Talk Tampons
If you are clenching your muscles down there that could be a big problem.
Sometime I am tensed up and have to take a deep breath and consciously "realease" the muscles down there as I push the tampon up.
Also.. this is going to sound really gross, but don't wipe too much before you put the tampon in. If there is a little lubrication it will be easier.
