Re: Let's Talk Tampons
My cousin had this problem with tampons... she could never get them in right and they were uncomfortable for her.
She tried the ones without the applicator and she found them MUCH easier to get in the right place. I dont know if I could do the "no applicator" thing, but it worked for her.

Re: Let's Talk Tampons
Tampax Pearl as well.
I despise pads - I felt so gross when I used them.

Re: Let's Talk Tampons
All the tampons I tried to use are extremely uncomfortable and it doesn't seem to go all the way in.
Lately I'm just so grossed out by pads, and at 32 yrs. old I want to change it up.
Thanks everyone for your helpful replies. I think I'm going to go to CVS tomorrow and get Tampax Pearl .

Re: Let's Talk Tampons
when you insert it, do you point it toward your back? like, your tailbone? i had a very funny conversation with my cousins one day about this. a lot of people try to insert it 'up,' when in reality you should point it more toward your back. and once its inserted using the 'push' part of the applicator, you can still insert it further by pushing the whole thing. sometimes i have to adjust a bit because my vagina makes a slight turn lol. you should not feel it once it's in, so keep trying until you get it right!

Re: Let's Talk Tampons
Use ones with plastic applicators instead of cardboard. Much much easier. Good luck!

Re: Let's Talk Tampons
Thank you so much for the advice. I've been inserting upwards, not towards the back. I'm going to try this trick out tomorrow. Thanks again!

i can't bring myself to using the plastic applicator ones.
i just have too many memories of being a kid and seeing them washed up on the beach
i use the cardboard applicator Tampax. works fine for me and i don't feel bad for adding to the plastic waste in the world
THANK YOU! I refuse to use plastic for this reason. Honestly, cardboard is not bad.
As for me, I use tampax.

Also, some people are more comfortable sitting on the toilet while others like standing.
Another weird thing I do is *slightly* push the applicator up BEFORE I put it in. Does that make sense? Basically, before it goes IN, I give it a little push so that the tampon itself is like a cm out of the applicator. I feel like it's higher up.
I've found, and I hope this isn't too personal, but I push it back and kind of to the left. I have a tilted uterus so it kind of pops when it's in place.
It does take some getting used to. For one thing, you should wear a pad the first few times so that if you do leak, you have back up. You don't want to take it out too early b/c it hurts. But it takes some time to figure out your flow with it.
Start with light tampons to get used to putting it in and then move on to higher absorbancy. So for this period, use light and then the next one, try regular and then the next one, try super. Don't start with super plus. You'll be scarred for life. Those things are beasts. Trust me, it's NOT like a penis.
Good luck! They are the best thing for the suckiest bodily function.

Re: Let's Talk Tampons
I use Playtex gentle glide also. I like the plastic applicators because it goes it goes in easier. I also prefer Playtex because of the way it comes out. When you pull it out, it is the shape of a cone as opposed to a straight piece of cotton. So it glides out easier too.

Reg Tampax, but if Pearl is on sale then I buy that. I have never had a problem with the cardboard applicator, I have been using them forever

Same here.
I always find the plastic applicators "pinch".
