summer plans

we're just starting out on TTC, but DH and i have been together 12 years and talk about it all the time. with summer coming, do you ladies think about 'missing out' on events? i know it's totally selfish, but i can't help think about camping, parties, vacation....how i may be (hopefully) PG and not able to participate in everything....i drink every weekend! i know that stopping will not even be a question. it will however be a complete change to my lifestyle.

we are excited about this next step, just going a bit nuts with all the plans being thrown our way. trying not to get overwhelmed and take it step by step....but how can you not think ahead!

okay, vent over!

Trust me, when you get pregnant you SO won't care! You're going to be completely enveloped in having a baby and not much else will matter. Also, you can do a lot while pregnant........it just gets tough and uncomfortable at the end. I loved being pregnant and I don't feel like I missed out on doing things.........other than maybe roller coasters. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: summer plans

Well I'll admit, we aren't starting till August to TTC and while this wasn't our#1 reason to wait, it factored in. In the best possible world, I'd get pregnant in August or September and never have to be pregnant in the summer. I teach so have my summers off, we live in the Hamptons, my parents live at the beach in Delaware, so summer is important to me.Chat Icon

we thought about this too, but i'm nervous it might take a few months for it to actually happen. if we wait till august and we don't get PG till december then i'd hit the following summer. sorta rather just try now and take it as it comes i guess! we lived in long beach for 7 years....miss it tons!

No you're right, that's not our real reason for waiting, and besides Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years, not to mention St. Patty's Day will also be hard to abstain from the partying, but so worth it!!!!!

Re: summer plans

I'm not really worried about it. I usually spend the summer's in my best friends back yard (she lives 2 houses down) with her family and my family. They have a really nice setup with an inground pool, firepit, and bar. They have a flat screen tv outside so we set up the Wii and have bowling tournaments lol Being pregnant won't prevent me from doing any of that, only difference is I'll have to drink virgin margaritas and pina coladasChat Icon

It really is and it's so laid back and relaxing. I know most people like to do exciting things during the summer or go to different places, but to me this is perfection!

Re: summer plans

yes and no. i mean really when i was pregnant I wasn't thinking too much about what I was missing out on. And i was pregnant for new years eve too!!

Its more of a nice trade off. you are so interested in what your body is doing that you don't really crave or desire drinking much.

plus you can still go out and do other things.

I have a wedding in June... and it would be fabulous to be able to drink drink drink... but I'd rather be sober and pregnant!!!

I think before it happens you tend to think more about what you are missing out on... but during you really don't feel that way at all.

Re: summer plans

I don't think being PG is going to stop me from doing anything really. I drink on rare occasions, so that's something that won't really affect me. The only thing it is affecting is our vacation plans. We go away every year for our anniversary, but my maternity leave will be completely unpaid, except for whatever vacation and sick time I have saved up. I'm scared to use any days until I know the baby won't be born in 2010.Chat Icon
