thanks for reminding me that i'm not a mom yet
2 fridays mornings each month, i teach a kinder music class in my town.
this morning one of the mothers came in the middle of my class to pick her kid up early. she was wishing the other women in the room happy mothers day and then she turned to me and started to wish me a happy mother's day and then she said, "oh yeah, you're not a mom yet."
gee thanks for reminding me lady!

no one knows we're ttc, but still...

I'm sorry. Someone I was on the phone with yesterday (business related) wished me a Happy Mother's Day. It hit me a little hard also. Next year we'll all be celebrating our first Mother's Day!!

I've been wished Happy Mother's Day by a few of my students' parents too. I think they mean it with the best intentions, but it shouldn't be followed up with "Oh you're not a mother yet" especially since I feel like a mother of their kid.

exactly! i wouldn't have been upset at all if she had wished me a happy mothers day, it was the comment that followed that upset me...

I know exectly how you feel. Something similar happened to me today at work... a female coworker wished Happy Mother's Day to a male coworker for his wife, and then she turned around and said to me "HMD to your mom and sister. Maybe next year I'll be saying the same thing to you  "..... You know I wanted to slap her right across the face  People can be sooo mean without really wanting to, because I'm sure that wasn't her intention.....
