Cardboard recycling
Can anyone give me information on where I can take cardboard to get recycled? Our town doesn't recycle it and I can't seem to find any decent info through google searches. It kills me to throw things like that out, such a waste!
TIA

Re: Cardboard recycling
I would love to know this as well. I put it out for recycle and they did not take it but the normal garbage collection took it.
Breaks my heart to not recycle it as well

Re: Cardboard recycling
Where do you live?
Huntington has a recycling center on New York Ave., but I'm guessing it's for Huntington residents only...BUT in all the years we've been using it, nobody has ever stopped our vehicle and asked us for any form of ID, so if you live near by, it might be worth driving there to dispose of it.
If you live in Smithtown (or Huntington), they take recycling at the dump on Old Northport Rd. in Kings Park, but they check for ID.

Re: Cardboard recycling
We're south shore Nassau but to be honest, it might be worth the trip. It really kills me to throw it out when it's SUCH an easy recycle and I hate the message it sends to my kids. Making the effort once a month or so to drive a bit out of the way to make it happen probably would be worth it if I can't locate anything closer. Thank you for the info!

Re: Cardboard recycling
Have you tried calling your town to see if they have a drop off site?

No, DH put those outside and then we had the blizzard. Once they got wet they were garbage - sorry! But I know uHaul has an exchange site and you can almost always find some for free or cheap on Craigslist.

Please bundle newspapers with string, or place in a brown paper bag. This site only accepts clean and dry paper. Cardboard should be tied into bundles measuring two feet by two feet by six inches. Rinse all residue from plastic, glass, and aluminum containers. Plastic items should be flattened. Lids should be removed prior to drop-off. This site requires proof of residency to drop materials off.
