we use a basket....
it's on the left hand side of our bakers rake
(Paper is on the other side....don't mind the mess, my husband had not taken the papers out to the curb yet.)

I used to use these that I got at the Container Store, but our town now doesn't require us to sort our recycling so I have a separate pail under my sink that everything goes into.

We bring it right out. We can throw it into our can from the back door. And if we had to, could probably open the DR window all the time and just drop it in.

I have a magazine rack for the papers. Everything else goes right outside into the bin.

I have two small plastic garbage cans under my sink (the rectangular shaped ones). One gets the bottles and cans the other gets the paper. We take them out once a week.

i have a small plastic bucket- in the kitchen next to the extra bags under the counter... dh takes the recycling out whenever the pail starts to fill up- and at least before every pickup

For papers/cardboard we use a plastic rubbermaid laundry basket (w/holes drilled in it fro darinage). That was in the kitchen of the apt and will be in the breezeway in the house. The overflow goes in milk crates that are outside (and trust me- they get filled up!!!)
Glass goes in a milk create too, which is outside.
They go out every other week, alternating, since that is when they get picked up.
