Re: Article on "Biological Clock"

Oh boy! That's pretty depressing considering I'm a few months away from 30. But on the other hand, many of the moms I know got pregnant in 30s without any trouble.

Re: Article on "Biological Clock"

I dont see this as a cause for concern- I am 32- the majority of my friends are now trying, two had their first when they were 34...

I know of plenty of people who get pregnant in their 30's.. i don't put much stock in what the article is saying
(and besides, it's not like we can turn back time anyway)

Re: Article on "Biological Clock"

I'll be 30 in October Chat Icon, and I'm the first of my friends to TTC. I get that fertility peaks in our late teens, but I wasn't financially or emotionally close to being ready at that point. Nor were any of the guys I dated at the time. And we women DO know that our "clocks are ticking." It's not like the article said anything new and groundbreaking. So what should we do, go back to the 1950's and all get married out of high school because of that? Chat Icon

I'm sorry, articles like this pizz me off. It's like they're trying to scare women out of academia and the workforce so we can stay home and have babies before "running out of time."

Re: Article on "Biological Clock"

I'm turning 31 next month and I'm in the best health and shape of my life.

Most people I know got pregnant in their 30's.
AND there's a few women at work that are having their first HEALTHY babies at 40.

I'm not scared at all. My OBGYN said my body won't have any trouble getting PG.

That article is annoying! SO many people don't even get married till they're in their 30's.

Let's stay positive about this!

dont lose hope- so what 90% of your eggs are gone- you will still continue to release eggs until menopause and it only takes the one time for conception-

its a silly article & I have to agree with Rachel- I think they are trying to convince women to have kids earlier- but thats a very personal decision and you have to do it when you are ready.

I'm not worried about being 30, but I would be about 40. Persaonally, I believe women in Hollywood and stories talked about in the media about having kids in the early 40's are very misleading. Celebriies typically spend thousand's on invitro.

Just to add to this. Women have something like 400,000 eggs at puberty. That's A LOT. 10% of that isn't exactly a small number either. I'm no expert, but I feel like I should be able to have 1-3 kids with 40,000 eggs!

Yup, and we're born with even more. The number dwindles down by puberty.

Yeah, I'm sure they knew they'd get a good headline out of it and it will get picked up by a lot of bloggers and other outlets.
