Beautiful dog! I'm sorry. It is so hard. I had to do it with my cat of 12 years almost 6 years ago and I still miss her.

Awww I am so sorry. I agree that putting a dog down is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. I also have a Yorkie and I already dread the day when he leaves us.  to you

i'm reading this thread and crying. i know how much that hurts.
my current dog is a pain in the azz, but i can't imagine not having him around.
she was such a beautiful dog. maybe someday you'll be ready to let another dog into your home.

Thanks ladies. The worse part is when DD asks for her..that breaks my heart. Also when we came home and opened the gate to the house, we were accustomed to her barking...and when there was silence DH and I looked at each other and lost it again.
Thanks again ladies. I know it will get easier, but I can't help but feel like I don't want anymore pets. It's just too hard.
I felt the same way when my cat died. It was such an emotional, horrible, draining time for me. I swore I would never want to go through it again. I kept saying that I didn't think I could knowingly put myself through that again.
But as time went by, the empty spot in the house and our hearts was too much to bear... it was a constant reminder of the pain.
Adopting 2 new cats was the best thing we could have done for ourselves. They helped us heal, they filled the void in the house, and I never imagined I could love another pet- but suprisingly I love them more than I could ever imgaine.
Give yourself time to heal- then consider it.
And in the meantime, my heart goes out to you- I know its one of the hardest things to go through....
