How do you deal with exhaustion?
The exhaustion has hit me like a ton of bricks! It started yesterday, but today is RIDICULOUS!
I am a middle school teacher and all I want to do is curl up behind my desk and take a nap. I have not been very productive and I feel like I'm doing my students a disservice. I'm usually super hyper and animated, but It takes every ounce of my effort now just to write on the board!
Does anyone have tips to share on how to work through this?

best thing you can do is at lunch - take a 15 minute cat nap...your body will have the chance to rest...

Re: How do you deal with exhaustion?
I feel your pain
Some days its so bad that I'm afraid i'm going to fall asleep at my desk. My eyes start bugging out!!
I love to take a nap when I get home but then that ruins my sleep for the night.

Re: How do you deal with exhaustion?
i drink ALOT of water. I feel like it gives me more O2 and wakes me up. I also pretty much just work and sleep- that helps, too.

Re: How do you deal with exhaustion?
I fell asleep at my desk yesterday reading a report at work
Is there somewhere were you can nap? I agree that might be a good idea!

Re: How do you deal with exhaustion?
I don't have this exhaustion
I wish I did, I am a little tired throughout the day but I am not narcoleptic! I do fall asleep pretty early at night, though.

It is tough being a teacher and being exhausted. I have a chair that is higher up that I sit on and read with the students (I teach English at a HS) or discuss things with them about the novels. I also make sure that I sit and relax a bit on my prep periods. I also took a lot of naps or went to bed really early. Get your sleep. It is fine!

Re: How do you deal with exhaustion?
I nap aaaaaallllll day long!
The lunch break nap is a great idea. When I am out and about all day even laying down with my eyes closed for 5 minutes gives me a refresher.
The getting to bed early tip is key too. Even if you do not feel tired at 8 or 9 (in my first tri, I was useless after 8) just lay in bed, no tv, no laptop, no lights and you'll be out like a light in minutes.
Now that I'm in my second tri, I miss my early bedtime!

Re: How do you deal with exhaustion?
I could have written this post word for word today. I am also a teacher and I was absolutely exhausted by the end of the day today. I came right home and have been in bed ever since. I actually cried because I was so tired. I wish I had advice for you, but I don't. My mentality when I walk out the door in the morning is, "I'll come home by 4 and then crawl into bed with Oprah." It is seriously all that gets me through the day sometimes. I teach 5th grade and we had the ELA this week which was another drain on me. Napping is not an option because my lunches are not really my own. There's always meetings, planning and prepping for lessons. I don't have advice but I have lots of for us that this passes quickly! We can do it!!

Re: How do you deal with exhaustion?
i had that in first trimester....
it helped going to sleep at 7:30-8pm...
i agree with the above- if you can get in your car- and set the cell phone alarm for like 20-30minutes that should help too

Re: How do you deal with exhaustion?
I rest at the nurses office. One day I was so tired, I just crawled in there and cried. It was kind of embarrassing, but I couldn't help it. Its tough.

Re: How do you deal with exhaustion?
I was asleep by 8pm almost every night of my first trimester. I also have flexible hours at work so I just have been leaving earlier and going home to rest. I totally understand how you feel.

Re: How do you deal with exhaustion?
I work in a school also and up to 20 weeks I was going to bed a 8 at night. Naps during lunch hour might also help.
