I have a cold...What can I take?
I am horribly stuffy and congested, and about week 7--what can I take? I've found some conflicting info online, and haven't had my first appt. yet.

Re: I have a cold...What can I take?
My doctor told me I could take Sudafed (the regular kind) , but I wasnt comfortable with it and just stuck it out.

Re: I have a cold...What can I take?
I would ask your OB - last pregnancy I was told nothing during 1st trimester.
Steam from warm showers, lots of warm fluids, humidifier all help.

I would not take anything to be honest without speaking to your dr's office and seeing what they ok. I too was sick during week 7 and 8 of my pg, so I know how you feel.

Re: I have a cold...What can I take?
Even if you havent had your first appointment yet you can still call either your OB or your primary care physician and they can recomend what is safe for you to take. I would not "research" that online.
Also, congestion and sinus issues are very common in pregnancy due to mucous membrane swelling. I have had a chronic stuffy/runny nose since I got PG and I am 24 weeks.

Re: I have a cold...What can I take?
i am in the first trimester and i'm with an RE who said the following in their paperwork:
What medications can I take? Our patients have many questions regarding medications that are safe to take during pregnancy. Unfortunately, that list is too long to mention. The following is a list of the prescription and over the counter drugs about which we are most commonly asked and are safe for use in pregnancy. If you have any concerns of questions about anything not listed, please call the office or your local pharmacist. If you are seeing a physician for a condition unrelated to pregnancy, be sure to inform him or her that you are pregnant. We will not prescribe medications for anything other than conditions related to your pregnancy.
Pain: Tylenol, Tylenol 3, percocet. (do not take: motrin, advil or nuprin)
Coughs, cold, flu: Sudafed, robitussin (not robitussin DM)
Allergies: benadryl
Constipation: colace, Metamucil, Fibercon
Antacid: tums
Inhalers: if you are asthmatic and need to use inhalers, you may take these
Vaginal/Yeast Infections: over the counter preparations (monistat, Mycelex) are safe
Antibiotics: penicillin, amoxicillin, erythromycin

Re: I have a cold...What can I take?
I have been sick for almost 2 weeks now, and my regular Dr gave me a nasal spray, and my OB said Sudafed ONLY if Absolutely necessary, so I have just been dealing ... The humidifier helps though..
