For those of you that got BFP
I'm sorry I keep posting on this board! But since it is all still to new for me not comfortable yet on the other board.
But my question is how soon after you got your BFP did you call your doctor to set up an appointment?
What kind of food did you cut out or what kind of food do I have to cut out?
Can I still exercise? I did a full body cardio last night and felt great.
Thanks Ladies you are all so amazing!!! Denise

Re: For those of you that got BFP
most doctor's won't see you for 8 weeks, but call your OB now....they'll tell you for sure.
Get yourself a book or two - about the foods....
I'm reading Your Pregnancy Week by Week.
I cut out deli meats (bacteria) and caffeine.
Again - this is something you can ask your doc for - maybe they can fax it to you before your appointment....
Exercise - NO CLUE....

Re: For those of you that got BFP
Exercise is great- just tone it down and try not to let your heart rate get too high. But whatever you did before is safe to do now- with the exception of high risk sports like skiing for example.Oh, and NO ab work or twisting of the abs(like in yoga). If you do yoga, headstands and shoulder-stands are a no-no also.
Foods- generally stay away from alcohol, cold cuts, soft cheeses, sushi or any undercooked meats, caffinated drinks at least until you can see your doctor and discuss with them. I ate soft cheese with my DD and this baby in moderation as long as it was pasterized and kept refrigerated but others would tell you not to. Some people drink caffine but I try to avoid it.
I would call your doc asap and set up the appointment. Even though they generally won't see you for six-eight weeks, its exciting to set up that appointment!
CONGRATS!!!!

Re: For those of you that got BFP
I got my BFP last wednesday and they had me come in this past tuesday for a general visit, take a urine sample, and give me the paperwork to get my blood work done, which I am doing this afternoon. I go back on Tuesday for my first u/s. I will say that my doctor is rare in that he doesn't make you wait until you are 8 weeks to come in.
She told me to keep my heart rate under 140, cut out alcohol, caffeine, etc.
Congrats!!!

whoa - how many weeks are you? Were you with an RE? I don't know many regular OB's who will suggest an early ultrasound (because the chances are high there will be nothing to see).

No, I was not with an RE. The doctor said I am 6 weeks so I'll be 6 weeks 5 days by the time I get an u/s. I'm not nervous, I know there is a chance we might not see anything. Who am I to argue?

I called my doctor the next day and made an appointment. My appointment is for a little after the 8 week mark on Nov 11th.
I cut out cold cuts and caffeine for now.
As far as exercise, I didn't cut that out. From what I have heard if you have been exercising before it is fine to exercise during pregnancy. I spoke with my trainer and she modified my routine a little but and she said I should watch my heart rate as well.

Re: For those of you that got BFP
I called my OB both times right away - my old dr wanted to see me at 5 weeks (b/c of my PCOS) this time my new OB only sees patients at 8 weeks (based on your LMP) so I don't see him until the 21st. I would call asap esp if you need to schedule an appt for a specific time or day. This way you get an appt and you don't have to worry about it.
As far as exercising I was told anything I would normally do - but that to not let my heart rate get above I think it was 120 bpm - but you should probably let someone else tell you that but I could be wrong. But I wouldn't worry too much about it if you are doing your normal routine - I wouldn't start something new - but your normal routine is fine.
Eating - this varies greatly by dr - if you want to be conservative - avoid raw or undercooked foods (rare meat, raw meats, raw seafood), limit or cut our cold cuts, soft cheeses (unless they are pasteurized) and limit or cut out caffeine. Again the list varies greatly from Dr to Dr and with each person's personal comfort level.

Re: For those of you that got BFP
My dr saw me 2 wks after my BFP bc we THOUGHT i would be at 6wks. Turned out i was only 5 wks. I would NOT recommend going until about 7wks bc then theres much to see and you can see HB as well.
As for eating, no cold cuts, unpasturized cheeses, most seafood, anything w/ raw egg (mayo, caesar dressing etc)

Re: For those of you that got BFP
I'm a nervous nelly too....don't worry about the questions..I have millions
But my question is how soon after you got your BFP did you call your doctor to set up an appointment? I found out on Saturday and by Monday morning I had my first appointment. They went by LMP, but it's WAY off. They thought 8wks, I thought maybe 6, but we're closer to 4 or 5. They won't see you until atleast 7-8wks where I go, but they did tell me to keep my same ob appointment for 10/21. We'll sched another sono after my blood work comes tomorrow afternoon
What kind of food did you cut out or what kind of food do I have to cut out? I cut out deli meats Cut down 2 10oz caffine a day, but that was easy since coffee makes me vomit :( I gave up hotdogs also Oh and salad. Salad, cuccumbers, green pepper make me so sick. It tastes like they were basted in dish soap
Can I still exercise? I did a full body cardio last night and felt great. Yes you can, but avaoid ab workouts and try not to do a heavy workout. My doc suggested a moderate workout that was longer and not so hard

Re: For those of you that got BFP
Congratulations! I called my OB the day I got my BFP, she wouldn't see me until 8 wks bc you don't always see the heartbeat on a sono before then & she was trying to avoid any unnecessary worry.
No alcohol. Use regular strength tylenol, only. Decrease your caffeine intake to a cup a day, same for nutrasweet. No deli meats or hot dogs unless cooked to steaming, no sushi or any raw/undercooked meat/fish/poultry, no soft cheeses, avoid tuna, swordfish, farmed salmon and a few other types of fish, you can have commercially made mayo & ceasar salad dressing bc the eggs are pasturized. Drink at least 64oz water each day.
You can still exercise, just listen to your body, keep your heartrate below 140 and be sure to drink plenty of water.

Re: For those of you that got BFP
also - i had my heart broken today and was told no salad bars....
the food is left out all day long, gathering bacteria...
that's a good way to look at it honestly - if the food can sit out for a long period of time - don't eat it...
i love salad bars too - so i was sad

Re: For those of you that got BFP
Ok I called the same day I received my BFP and they will schedule you according to how your dr's office handles visits...
I would just cut back on junk food.. they will tell you if you have to cut any special one thing out.. But until then EAT!
And yes you can still exercise... Just let your doctor know when you see them what kind of schedule you have and they will let you know when to slow down a bit... But for the most part they will tell you to continue to do everything as you were.

Re: For those of you that got BFP
From my experience the dr doesn't want to see you before 8 wks because before that there is nothing to see. I recommend picking up What to expect when you are expecting, I found it helpful with DS to join their website too. Of course, I was a little obsessive and read every piece of material on pregnancy I could and joined just about every web site out there.
You can do exercise as long as you were doing it before. I'm sure you can get more specific answers to this online as well.
