So, I'm excited today at work and I'm telling people....I'm having a boy!!
So, this lady comes up to me and says:
Sons are Sons, until they find a wife.
Daughters are Daughters for life.
So, after saying her little peom. She says, I hope you try again for a girl.
So, she already has my child leaving me and married. He is not even born yet.
and what happens if I try again and get another boy.
Is this what you say to a first time mom?
or maybe I am just being sensitive?
What a jerk!
I assume this woman has daugthers, easy for her to say something so nasty to someone. I hate people like that. What an idiot! I would have been fuming!!

I'm a girl and less attached to my parents than my brother....it's far from a hard and fast rule by far!!!
I think ANY parent is capable of stifling their children so that the children always stay with them and never leave the nest....(which is this attachement that she is implying a DD will have).
Yet I know PLENTY of men whose mommies coddled them so much that they are worse than women when it comes to emotional attachment to parents/family. So I don't buy this phrase at ALL.

As a mother of 3 boys I hear this all the time.
I also have 4 brothers and, I hate to say it, I find that that all of them tend to lean toward their wife's family.
I hope my boys know how hard I have worked for them and remember it when I am old.

I find that everyone has an opinion once they find out you're expecting.
A big one I hear is "wow, so I totally picture you having a ton of kids".
It's like, damn, let me have this FIRST one before you have me at home barefoot with a whole brood.

I hate that saying, I think it's ridiculous. Your son will always be your son...and it's funny b/c I know many families where the sons are closer to their moms than the daughters..
I love having a son, and he will ALWAYS be my son!

This is the exact saying the sono tech told me during my Level II. She has 2 boys.

I've heard that saying before. Laugh it off and put it aside with all the other stupid sayings and useless adive you will get while pregant and raisng your kids. Don't worry about it, your son will always love you!
