For those that miscarried...

Did your HCG levels drop quickly?

Mine has gone from 370 to 330 in a week, and apparently the doctors are concerned that it is dropping so slowly and want to make sure I don't have an ectopic/tubal pregnancy. I have to go for an ultrasound tomorrow to make sure. I don't have any fever/chills or signs of infection or anything like, but just the fact that the numbers are so slow is "concerning" them.

It is always something lately. Chat Icon

Re: For those that miscarried...

I think mine dropped pretty fast- the day before I m/c I felt like all my symptoms (sore breasts, nausea, super smelling powers, etc.) just disappear. I assumed that indicated a quick drop in hormone levels. I saw the doc a little more than a week later and I was negative on a preg test- so I don't know if they even bothered to check levels.

Do you still have any symptoms?

Thanks... no, I don't have symptoms. ACtually, I lost my pregnancy symptoms at about 6 weeks, and then miscarried at @ 7weeks, but I think the pregnancy failed back at 6 weeks when the symptoms stopped. However, for some reason my HCG is just going really slow. I have no clue why. I guess at the ultrasound tomorrow they are going to thoroughly check my tubes and make sure it isn't eptopic. Sigh. This s u c k s.

My beta dropped very quickly when I had a very early natural m/c. It went from like 300+ to below 5 in about a week. I was told that the faster it drops the better. There is danger in the case of slow dropping betas with low progesterone for an ectopic pregnancy. Ectopics can be treated in the earliest stages with medication.

I think it also depends on where you were in your pregnancy. My levels were at 50,000....so it took a lil longer than some poeple i knew..i was also 9 weeks along. They should decrease by half until it eventually goes down to 0....once it goes down completely then technically you could ovulate.

My levels remained elevated for 5 and a half weeks. The doctors were monitoring me weekly. I know how terrible it is to have your numbers stay high, hang in there.

My doc never checked mine either, but all of my pg symptoms pretty much went away the day after the m/c so I think that they dropped pretty quickly.

Good luck today & please keep us posted! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: For those that miscarried...

My first pregnancy, my hcg levels started off on the low side, but I was in beta hell for about 4-5 weeks. It took it's own sweet time to drop and at one point it even went up.
