Advice needed...please help
I don't know what to do...I am having recurrent miscarriages. I have gone through all the chromosome testing and blood tests and nothing is coming up wrong. All the tests show normal. The only one i am waiting for is the Tennessee Bloods to come back. We get a heartbeat and then lose it.
My question is, I have been doing IUI's + clomid to get PG. AT this point, I am confused and don't know if I should push IVF.
I know it seems dumb, but how many more months should I wait to get pg again. We see an RE for MF. I dont want to waste any more time. My regular OB said it could be my egg quality. Wouldn't IVF solve that problem??
Can anyone help???? Plus, I found out yesterday that the last pregnancy was a girl. God, that is tough to hear...

I agree...you might want to FM LaurenExp, she has had that problem and has "balanced translocation" - I think. You also might want to consult with a couple of different RE's, specifically someone who specialized in Recurrent Miscarriage.

I'm sorry for your situation. I definitely think an RE is a better avenue to finding out what's wrong over an OB. IVF doesn't necessarily improve egg quality, but it can help shed more light on any issues.

Re: Advice needed...please help
Thanks everyone. I am already at LI IVF with Dr. K. Are they considered to be specialists on rec. miscarriages??
I just havent spoken to him about moving on to IVF at this point. I am going for a water sono on Wednesday so I just wanted some opinions on what I should do. I feel so confused and I just want to do whatever will give me the best chance at holding a pregnancy.
What would PGD do for me?? Not sure what it is!!

Re: Advice needed...please help
PGD is when a single cell is removed from an embryo and analyzed for genetic defects before transfer during an IVF cycle.

I would wait for the Tennessee bloods to come back, but have you asked about taking a baby apsirin or blood thinner as a precaution? You might want to check out babycenter.com they have a bunch of bulletin boards and one is called lovely lovenox ladies. A lot of the women on there had recurrent m/c and had nothing come up in testing but their doctors put them on lovenox anyway and they had successful pregnancies!

Re: Advice needed...please help
If you have gone through all the chromosome testing PGD will probably not help you. The other options are immune issues or infection. Seeing a HB multiple times and then having a loss is a sign of immune type problems(which includes blood clotting issues) I would suggest SIRM if you want to stay in NY, otherwise some other specialists are located in Chicago-Dr Coulam and Dr. Kwak-Kim.
As a first step you could read Is Your Body Baby Friendly by Dr. Alan Beer which will introduce you to Recurrent Pregnancy Loss due to immune issues. I am currently pregnant through IVF for tubal issues but I was also diagnosed with immune issues and take Lovenox and baby asprin and was just taken off prednisone(I am 18 weeks) I know a lot more and am willing to help you but would suggest you do some of your own research first. Best of luck.
And FYI LI-IVF are certainly not recurrent miscarriage specialists.
ETA: Has your husband been tested for chromosomal issues? What is his morphology

Thank you for your help...i am actually waiting on that book to be delivered, i ordered it last week!
my husband and i had our chromosomes karyotyped and they both came back normal. his morph varies, but the one SA I have here says it is 23%. i researched SIRM and they seem very in-depth. Have you been there??? Were you happy with them?
I see you said that LI IVF are not specialists in rec. misses, do you think they are missing something?
Believe me, I have been researching like crazy, I feel like it is all I do. I just feel lost because my tests so far are coming up normal. Any other suggestions would be great. Thank you so much for checking in on this board and helping out!! Congrats to you!!!

I don't have any experience with miscarriages so I don't have any advice, but I hope you are able to find some answers.

Re: Advice needed...please help
If you have recurrent miscarriage. Don't ignore PGD as an option. Even though you had chromosome testing, that can rule out translocations which can cause miscarriage. You can have a perfectly normal karyotype and your embryos can still have genetic abnormalities and that can cause recurrent miscarriage. I know LI IVF works with reprogenetics for that. I check out the internet and Their website has info: www.reprogenetics.com You may want to ask your dr about it and see what he thinks. :)

Re: Advice needed...please help
In addition you can read Yahoo's immunology Support Group's files-you have to join(just have a yahoo e-mail acct) SIRM are really the only Dr's in NY who do a nearly complete panel of tests for recurrent miscarriage. You'll find that some Dr's think there is nothing to all the anecdoatl stories of women that have had multiple losses but were then able to carry babies to full term using immune treatments. Good luck. feel free to FM me with any questions

Re: Advice needed...please help
I'm so sorry you're going through this...actually I'm sorry for all of us here
I am a patient at SIRM in Woodbury(even though recurrent MC is not my issue). I really love Dr. B and his staff. I feel that I get very personalized service, lots of compassion and most important of all I feel they really know their stuff. They tend to be aggressive which I appreciate. FM me if you want more info.
Feel better and keep the faith that there is an end in sight!
