Re: Does anyone else find this rude?
Dhs job requires him to go into peoples houses, and some guy asked him to take off his boots.. my dh said no, b/c job requires boots on at all times, incase of injury and told him he would gladly wrap his boots with plastic bags while they were still on.. the guy cancelled the job. Some people are wacked.

Re: Does anyone else find this rude?
Growing up at my parent's house we always took our shoes off as soon as we got home, DH and I never did it, but now that we have a baby who crawls all over I have thought of asking people to take their shoes off but I haven't done it yet, I don't think it's rude to ask though, you make the rules in your own home

Re: Does anyone else find this rude?
I don't find it rude at all. I actually find it rude when you walk into someone's house and don't offer to take your shoes off.

I have to admit though, these are a B ITCH to take off once I get them on....

Bwaaaaaaahhhhh
ETA: We take our shoes off. It wouldn't bother me so much if I had all hardwoods but it does bother me since our new home will have some carpet and we are neat freaks. I do hate to ask and probably won't.

Re: Does anyone else find this rude?
We live in a co-op and are forced to carpet a majority of the apt. All of our friends & family know that they are to remove their shoes before entering our apt. If they do not want to, they do not have to come over.
The last thing I want is mud or dirt being dragged into my home from someone's dirty shoes.
If I had a home with all wood floors or tile then that would be a different story as it would be easier to clean.

Re: Does anyone else find this rude?
I don't think its rude, but I'd probably say something to DH or friend after the first time like "hey isnt weird that so and so doesnt like shoes inside?" but then would be totally fine with it afterwards.

Re: Does anyone else find this rude?
Unless my shoes were soaking wet or covered in mud, yes, I would consider it rude.

Re: Does anyone else find this rude?
i dunno... i mean some summer time sandle season, some people putting their dirty feet is not much better then leaving them on..
One house my mom use to babysit for had a basket of chinese slippers...
DH comes inside the house walks around and changes into slippers so his socks/feet arent dirrectly on the floor- I like that approach alot better..
Plus some people have hard wood/granite floors and my feet would feel too cold

I think thats a otally different situation. I would never expect workers to take their shoes off in my house, nor would I ever ask, but I would expect my family and friends to respect that no shoes are worn in my house!

ita. If I expect a worker to come by, I will put down runners for him to walk on so that my light colored carpets do not get stained by his boots.
