Re: Does anyone else find this rude?

Yes and no.

Yes because I would never ask someone to take their shoes off, yet I'd be happy if they did.

and No because I really do understand why they'd ask in the first place.

Just ask. I am sure your guests will honor your request whether they like it or not.

Re: Does anyone else find this rude?

No, it's their house. Their house, their rules.

I especially understand it if they have a small child who is picking things up off the floor.

Re: Does anyone else find this rude?

In my house we all take our shoes off, its just what we do. However, when I have guests, I would never ask them to remove their shoes. Some do (and that's great) and some don't. I do ask kids to remove their shoes. I figure anyone under 5 foot, has to listen to me. Chat Icon

ETA when my kids go to other peoples homes, I've trained them to just take their shoes off, unless they are told otherwise. I can't tell you how many mom's have thanked me.

this is like that episode of SATC where carrie's shoes get stolen at the party!!

ETA: i would never ask anyone to remove their shoes - i would just simply swiffer or mop the floor real quick after they leave - i do that ANYWAY after we have guests when i straighten up - it's not that big of a deal. floors are dirty regardless and i've never had a guest TRACK mud in lol or anything like that - they usually wipe their feet if they are wet or something otherwise they come in - maybe our guests aren't that dirty? lol lol. we have clean friends! Re: Does anyone else find this rude?

No, I don't think it is rude. Much bigger sh*t to worry about than taking off my shoes.

ditto.

DH and i take off our shoes when we walk into our house because we dont like to track dirt. but i would never expect a guest to do the same thing. if they want to because they see my shoes by the front door, they can. but i wont force it upon someone.

I honestly do not think its rude at all!

I personally think its rude when people walk into a house wearing their shoes when they see that the homeowners take theirs off.

Re: Does anyone else find this rude?

I would never ask people to remove their shoes @ my home. I want people to feel comfortable so they can wear them or take them off, I don't care.
