Another v-streamer here too....
It was and still is an unsafe neighborhood, but if you use caution and go in the daytime, you should be OK.
I've heard a fair share of things happening at Roosevelt Field as well...
Just use common sense and caution wherever you go.

I am at Roos Field constantly, alone, and never once have I witnessed anything crime related, or felt unsafe (I am not disputing there's crime there, I know there is!). I would even go to RF alone at night, you just gotta park near an entrance to the mall in a well lit area.
I personally would not go to GA alone at night...maybe (just maybe) daytime but I would chose many places over GA.
Statistically speaking theft is much higher at GA--we all know this. It's a personal decision whether or not you feel safe. All malls have their share of crime.

It's not safe over there..if I do have to run there I park really close to the entrance and will only go when its light out. But-I do try and STAY AWAY!

 I went there once as a kid with my friends mom and she made us hold her hands the whole time. I was scared.

I would def go to RF.
It goes without saying that there is crime all over & it's not Bagdad...( )
but RF is a lot safer than GA.

I'm sorry evryone is scared to go to the mall but it seems kind of funny to me.
I go to green acres ALL the time & have never felt unsafe there. It's really not as bad as everyone is making it sound
ETA: We even go to the movie theater next door & make it home alive

I go to Green Acres by myself and I'm not afraid. I don't really go shopping alone at night, but during the day Green Acres is not a problem.

Seriously. Not a great selection of stores but I wouldn't think twice about going. I would even go at night and park far away
Maybe its the renovation. All those changes make some people nervous

i agree. i even used to work there and i never felt unsafe. i have gone there all my life and will continue to go. i think people hear stories and make assumptions.

My DH works at one of the stores right next to GA and he comes home everyday without a problem. He even works nights and makes it to his car with no problem.
