reading your post just made me cry - i am so sorry for your loss.
i lost my Molly 5 months ago, a car accident, so completley unexpected also. The pain does lessen but I have to tell you there isn't a day I don't think about her. We got another dog right away and it REALLY helped us (I know others like to take their time to grieve) The house was too empty and was making me crazy bc I could still see Molly everywhere.
I never thought losing a dog would be as hard as it was.
I'm so sorry again!

I am so sorry for your loss also. Thank you for sharing your experience. It is good to know that the intense feelings do subside. She was my 1st doggie, and I have never before felt the joy that a dog could bring into your life. I am not sure if I can get another dog. She lived with my parents most of the time, and my DH and I aren't in the position to get a dog now. My parents might get one down the line a bit, but their dog will not fill the hole in my heart. Hopefully someday something will. Thank you again.

I am so sorry for your loss. I lost me dog suddenly 2 months ago-- he was only 4! It's very hard to understand why? Our situation also happened quickly like yours. He had heavy breathing on late Tuesday night and passed away Friday late night. On the day he passed we found out he had lymphoma with acute aggressive leukemia. What I am can tell you is that it does get easier but certain things still bring me to tears--- expecting his bark when the bell rings, coming to bed with me, etc. At least we know they are in a better place watching over us. Again I am so sorry for your loss!

I am so sorry. I lost a few animals that were very young, I had a 18 month old cat that had a stroke and died at the vets office, I am so sorry.I never really got over it till this day and that was 7 yrs ago. I find comfort in knowing I was a good cat Mommy. I still get upset, but it does get better. I also went on the site called
www. rainbowbridge.com, it makes me cry, but it also made me feel better that I am not alone. They have a candle lighting ceremony too. My deepest sympathy.

I am so deeply sorry for your loss. I truly understand the feelings and grief of losing one. I lost my dog of 15 years last year and it was devastating. I will keep you in my thoughts.

I am so devastated, it feels like I lost a family member. She was like a soulmate to me, and I wonder if the pain I am feeling will ever subside. If anyone else has experienced this, and has come to terms with their grief, and is able to live normally today, please let me know how you dealt with it. It would really help to hear some words of wisdom right now... 
Sweetie, you DID lose a family member and I am so sorry for your loss. Just remember all the love you got from your dog and how much love you gave to your dog. The memories will make you cry now, but will always make you smile later. You have to grieve, like with anything else and know that you have support.

i recently lost my kitty Max and it's so devastating. I miss him terribly. He was my boy!
It's not as devastating now to us, but I cried for days..every day for a while and now I am as well.
You are a good mommy and Dixie had a good life.

i am very sorry sweetie when i lost my Sherice last year suddenly because she was hit by a car it hurt so bad and i miss her terrible. I know though she is with keith and he is taking care of her. i did a week later go a rescued mystic from the shelter and omg she was a mini sherice. i went so soon only because kryss and my boo boo(my chi) where getting depressed. not for everyone. but it helped me too. i hope you can know she is not suffering anymore and is with your loved ones.
