excuses
I know some of you told your bosses that you are getting fertility treatments but i am so NOT! I actually heard my boss say that someone had a FAKE baby that had to get treatments so i know better. My post here is to come up w/ some clever excuses why I can't come to work during my IUI treatments, BW, sono etc. This is the 1st month so i plan on just saying a dr appmt or calling in sick... but if i need to do it a couple months in a row it will be suspicious.... so i came up w/ waiting for plumber, emergency dentist appmt .... any other idea why maybe i will need to be late 2 days in a row? any experienced IUIers or Ivfers w/ some great excuses? Thanks

Re: excuses
Why not say it is an ongoing medical treatment? That way you don't have to keep coming up with different excuses.

Re: excuses
is it not possible for you go super early to you blood / sono appts??
some offices are open very early - maybe you can avoid the issue entirely - that is what I did

Re: excuses
I am keeping things very private at my work. Luckliy my RE has very early hours starting at 6:30 am so it's not a problem to get to work on time. I have been late a few times on the IUI days because those tend to be longer appointments. I would just tell your boss that you are getting treatment for a medical condition and may need to be late on rare occasions. You definitely don't need to give specifics.
On a side note, I think what your boss said about the "fake baby" is disgusting. This is the reason why those going through IF feel so isolated.

Re: excuses
First of all, that's disgusting.
Secondly, at first I was telling my boss that I was getting tested for blood sugar (since I was starting Metformin). I don't know if you want to use something like that, something that they need to have continuous blood levels.

Re: excuses
Fake Baby??
I go to my RE first thing in the am. You are going to have A LOT of appointments...typically once a week but sometimes more than that. I would stick with a alternative medical excuse...they cant discriminate you about it and you dont necessarilly have to share it either. "My condition needs to be monitored."

Re: excuses
ok girls -- some good advice- i knew i could count on you guys..... I do and will always try to go 1st thing in am or after work but w/ traffic the drs office could be more then 45 minutes away..... so there may be times where i am late consecutively . . . . I learned the hard way not to talk about personal things going on w. me..... so NO WAY will i ever let this cat out of the bag NO WAY! The reason why it took me years to get treatments done was b/c i didnt know how i was able to do them w/out telling my company. but i got to the point where i have no choice and do whats good for me and lie.... since this is my 1st time getting IUI unmedicated, i am not saying anything b/c hopefully it'll work and it just so happens that i am off 3 days in a row for prez day and most likely i will surge this weekend..... anyway its pathetic i have to think like this but hey, its just part of this damn IF journey! Good luck and keep the excuses coming..... fingers crossed!

Re: excuses
That is horrible that you have to make up excuses. I hope that this first time is all it takes for you.

Re: excuses
I make it a point not to say anything. I mean, really, if I have the time, I'm entitled to take it whenever, however I like, and I'm also entitled to my privacy. While I know my supervisor would be totally understanding, this really isn't any of his business, so I don't bother making excuses. I just send him an email the day before, or the night before, and let him know if I'll be late.

Re: excuses
I would definitely tell them it's a chronic medical condition for now, just tell them it has to be monitored regularly and you should be fine.
And you boss is an azz for saying that...one of the many reasons IF is such a horrible problem.
