Re: Spinoff - Plastic Surgery:

I had a breast augmentation about a year and a half ago.
Why did I do it? I was tired of shirts not fitting the right way. I was a AA, I never filled up my A bra. I've been wanting boobs since I was a freshman in HS. So being that I hve a good job and I don't have to ask permission I treated myself. Best money I have ever spent. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon And I'll do it again in ten years when I need them replaced.

Re: Spinoff - Plastic Surgery:

Prior to having kids, I would have said no way, but I was happy with most everything that I had.

Now that i had the boys, I can say I would love to get a tummy tuck. Like other posters have said I know I could go down to 100 lbs and still my skin will look like cellulite on my tummy area and nothing I could do would fix it but a tummy tuck.

That being said though, now that I am a mom there is no way I would opt to have surgery. I have had surgery twice in my life and I don't want anymore and I cannot even think about leaving these kids if there was an error on the OT and my boys grew up with no mom. JMO......I have no issues with people having/getting it. The most important thing is a person feel confident in their own skin.

I would consider it after I have children but I'm always afraid something would go wrong. I dont' think I'd ever touch my face but ask me again in 20 years.

Re: Spinoff - Plastic Surgery:

Never have, never will. I'm more interested in changing the inside for the better than the outside.

It all goes to pot sooner or later anyway. I know someone resisting that fact and is having work done to turn back the clock. She looked better before she started and I feel terrible for her. Chat Icon

Re: Spinoff - Plastic Surgery:

I like to entertain the thought of having "things" done but will probably never do anything.

All those procedures are surgeries. There is a risk involved with any surgery. I have seen the "plastic surgery gone wrong".

I have nothing against it for people who want to do it. That's their business.

Re: Spinoff - Plastic Surgery:

not now... can't say what the future holds.

i don't love any one particular body part, but then again, i don't hate any one particular one, either.

sure, bigger boobs would be nice---they'd sure as heck fill my clothes out better. dh would prob. dissuade me from doing anything anyways...

i could see those who'd want to get something done. it's about self-esteem. if they're that unhappy with that body part, and wanting to change it knowing fully the risks involved with surgery, i say more power to them! wear those new and "improved" parts with pride! Chat Icon

Re: Spinoff - Plastic Surgery:

Pre-kids I've considered breast implants after I had my kids. Having seen what pregnancy can do to breasts, at least I wouldn't feel like it was a waste of money & then have to redo them. However, after having bigger breasts from being pregnant, I'm on the fence about it.

Not sure if you consider it plastic surgery but I did have my bunions removed. They were God awful looking & starting to hurt. Since it only gets progressively worse, I opted to get it done sooner rather than later.

Barring a serious accident/reconstructive surgery, I don't think I would do major elective surgery.

My nose has really been bothering me lately. I believe it is growing at the tip and getting fatter. I am sure losing weight may change the look a bit but unfortunately the women in my family have this ball on the end of their nose. I guess they would just go in and define the tip a bit. Don't know if I would ever do it but I've thought about it!

see? it goes to show u what others see and what other do not see...whenever I see your avatar I think how beautiful u are...I even just looked and your pic and enlarged it and I still see nothing!

Re: Spinoff - Plastic Surgery:

I haven't had any yet. I've got smaller boobs and am very happy with them. BUT if I have children and my boobs and stomach get all stretched out and gross, I will certainly have surgery to correct the situation. And I will probably have Botox too!

Re: Spinoff - Plastic Surgery:

The only thing I'd consider would be a breast reduction, which would serve cosmetic as well as health purposes. It would help my back and neck problems a lot. I'm not really ready to consider it until I lose weight. i know I willl still have big boobs even if I lose a lot of weight, but then I will be able to see, plus I don't want smaller boobs with my larger body size. But a breast reduction is a lot cheaper and safer than back surgery and it might serve much of the same purpose!

If only there were a magic surgery to get rid of my car accident weight!

ETA: On the topic in general, I don't have a problem with purely cosmetic surgery per se..but I have a few concerns about it..one is ..shouldn't we be able to find a way to be happy with the way God made us (way easier said than done), and also the greater concern is people who go through cosmetic surgery, or even weight loss surgery who think it will solve all of their self-esteem issues or will even solve other problems. SOme people go under the knife and come out arguably more beautiful, but feel the same, and now that hope of a magic bullet is gone. I read somewhere about a high suicide rate among people who have had gastric bypass surgery. This is probably the reason.

So I think people who do elect to have any kind of surgery need to think carefully about the reason and the expected outcome. If you have a healthy outlook about it and good reasons, then why not?

Re: Spinoff - Plastic Surgery:

Have had none. I figure this is what I got and it's good enough, if I had to fix anything I'd fix my eyes, they aren't equal in appearance. Put a line down my face and you'd get two different people especialy with my diff colored eyes.

Still I've heard so many tragic stories from lasting pain, mistakes and even death. I'll pass.

I know people who have had it for medical reasons - boobs too big for body (back pain etc); for self esteem after a mugging with serious facial damage & after losing 100 plus pounds to fix the sags and for cosmetic reason to have bigger boobs or face lift, etc.

To each their own. I have no opinion of those who have had it done.

I have that skin around my abdomen that looks like a woman after shes had a baby except I have no baby. I had a major weight loss that left me with a flap that looks like an apron. DH met and fell in love with me this way and has never once complained about it. You'd think it would be enough. Its not.

Imagine feeling like a work in progress for 5 years and I swear to you all that no amount of exercise will tighten up that skin. You just cannot tighten up skin that used to be filled up by over 100 extra pounds for most of your adult life. Nobody can tell the difference when I am in clothes. That skin is keeping a formerly sized 24 in a size 10 when she could very well be a size 8. It matters and I am not shallow for thinking that way. And yes, I DO exercise. The muscles underneatth the skin are tight - the skin is loose. I only thank G-d that my arms don't look like bat wings but come hell or high water, I will have breast augmentation and abdominoplasty after I have children. DH is in support of it

FACT- I am a hell of a lot more attractive now than I was then and people can tell me I am beautiful til they are blue in the face - they did when I VOLUNTARILY went under the knife to have weight loss surgery (WHICH IS NOT PLASTIC SURGERY - people often say it is). But unless a person feels and sees their beauty themselves, all of the compliments in the world do not amount to much. There is still work left to be done.

Right there with you babeChat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Me too, except, I did have abdiminoplasty about 2 years ago, (after dh and I met) He did not want me to do it, as he felt I looked fine the way I was, but I just wanted to remove the excess skin around my pelvis. Of course I am pregnant now, and have decided that if I wind up with the same looking skin after we are done having children, then I will have a revision. Chat Icon I was very happy I did not need to have any other surgery at the time, but after kids, I will do the abd revision and will have a mastopexy (breast Lift)
