Re: Would you buy one??

If it's not a SUV I won't drive it. The last non-SUV I drove was a PT Cruiser or HHR, they look the same, sorry. I thought I was in a death trap so I was nervous the entire ride.

I ♥ my SUV!!!!

Re: Would you buy one??

I saw one on the road recently. It was kind of cute, kind of ridiculous.

The thing is, there are normal-size cars (hybrids) that can get the same gas mileage, so I'm not sure it's worth sacrificing size and safety. I guess it would be helpful for zipping around the city, though.

The bigger FourFour model is pretty decent looking.

Re: Would you buy one??

I LOVE Smart Cars. I've loved them since the first time I ever saw one, years ago. If I lived in Euorpe, I would totally get one - I love small cars and good mileage. But here there are so many giant cars on the road that I don't know that I would feel safe in it. Obviously a 2-seater is impractical for families, but most of us commute alone to and from work, no? Unfortunately, I don't see big trucks an SUVs going away any time soon in the US, so I don't think Smart Cars will catch on. I have seen one guy who drives the same way as me sometimes on my commute who has one with European plates. I'm so envious of his adorable car.

Re: Would you buy one??

I would never buy one, i have a truck now, and i thought i might downsize to a sedan after this one, but i am sticking to a big SUV

Mainly because i feel so much safer

To me it looks like a coffin on wheels

It's uber cute, but just not my thing. I'd feel too closed in, not good.

Re: Would you buy one??

I think they are great. We drove one when we were in St. Barths.

If we didn't have SUVs here I would without a doubt get one. They have 5 seaters and they are roomy enough.

Re: Would you buy one??

I'd rather get a Honda/Toyota Hybrid - a two seater is too small for a family. I also agree that they may be too small for our SUV laden roads - with the size of that car would you even be seen??

Plus I'm not sure the car is heavy enough to drive well in bad weather. I read an article when the first Honda Hybrids came out and they were pretty dangerous in high winds, rain or snow conditions because the car lacked the weight to hold the road. Maybe in a drier or warmer climate or if I lived IN the city, but not in the NorthEast as a commuter.

Not to cause an argument or to be flamed, but I think that everyone seems to think they are going to die if they get into a car smaller than a tank. People drive small cars everywhere in the world except for North America and the rates of deaths in car accidents really aren't higher percentagewise. I think that its hard for people in the states to sometimes think outside of the box. Thats why these the US will still be a huge consumer nation and nothing will change. Unfortunately now, Europe is following in the US's footsteps.
Done.

We were in Paris in January and they are ALL OVER THE PLACE. They make sense over there because of the big cities. DH keeps saying that he would get one in a minute.
