When I was shopping for homeowners in June I got a quote form Geico. It was over a thousand dollars a year more than what State Farm charged me. It was insane.

I used to have them as car insurance. So I called them when I was insuring our home and gave all the info to a very nice woman - she never said it was actually through another company - and she was supposed to get back to me in 2 hours. She never called me back.  So I went with Allstate who I had used to have my car insurance with. I ended up switching my car & DH's car insurance back to Allstate too. I use Anslem Lowe in E. Rockaway even though I live upstate now, I've known him for years and I really like him.

I got a pretty good quote from State Farm, Hartford is close behind - don't have the full quote yet, and I have a recco to call tomorrow.
I'm pleasantly surprised at the numbers. So I'm going for an umbrella too, just to be safe.

so BMWs will protect your property from a hurricane? I should buy one!

LOL it must!!
That's the part I laughed at while I was on the phone with him. I said, "Boy, you're really looking for a certain class of people, huh? My car isn't a BMW but it's german-made, does that count?" Then it was his turn to laugh at me.
