Re: For those that are 30 or over...
30 was no big deal...35 was no big deal...40, well, we'll have to see where I am in my life on that one. I don't measure life by a number as much as I feel I have accomplished by that number/timeframe. Like I know I would love to own another home (regardless of whether it's small, etc.) and hopefully be on the way to having another child

Re: For those that are 30 or over...
I just turned 30 in July. You know what, I embraced it - my 20s were like a roller coaster so I am actually embracing my 30s and thinking positive!

There was no difference. I actually looked forward to it when it was happening. When you're 30 there's no more trying to prove yourself.

Re: For those that are 30 or over...
I'm not 30 yet, but my best girl friend is 42.
Honestly, it's just a number. You are the exact same person the day you turn 30 as you are the day before. Don't let that number drag you down.

Sorry Hollie I cant offer your any sympathy because I feel the same as you and maybe even worse! My 30th is next month and I am dreading it. For me, its because I havent accomplished anything that I thought I would by now. But in reality, its just another day you know? Enjoy and celebrate what you have - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

Thanks ladies.
I did get a nice ring from Tiffany and Co for my birthday and there are diamonds.
I guess I thought I would have children by now and a house and stuff.
I know life doesn't always work out the way we planned.
Let's hope I partake in the alcohol on Saturday and laugh my azz off!
Just some perspective
At 30, I just moved to LA and was starting my career over and making new friends and building a new home for myself
At 30, I didn't have a signficant other but had lots of fun
At 30, I was still such a baby and had so much to learn it was crazy
At 30, I still didn't go on one trip by myself- by 34 I had been to Thailand alone and Australia with one friend for over a month
At 30, I didn't see how I was EVER going to be a wife and mother, in fact I had given up.
Now at 37, I have an incredible DH, a beautiful 8 month DD, and a wonderful home. I love my job and am planning a future career at as a Marriage and Family Therapist. I didn't see any of this at 30 but that was when I started to finally have a damn good time!
that was something very positive to share!

Re: For those that are 30 or over...
I turned 30 in May (24) and the whole month I was not myself, but then my DH threw me an awesome party with everything from live music to Ralph's Ices (my favorite). I had such a great time I got over the 30 thing real quick.
Anyway, I know how you feel, but since all my friends are now in their thirties, we've decided that it's the new twenty! It's not so bad when you get there !

I wasn't even married. Back them I didn't think I would ever be married and have kids.
My 30th birthday was first celebrated at the summer share I had that summer in the Hamptons, then the actual day was also Father's Day so we took my dad out to eat (I always get the short end of the stick when my bd falls on Father's Day)

I turned 34 this August. To me it just a number. I still feel like I am in my teens and sometimes act like. There are other things to stress about than age.
