Re: Do you think the neighbor is wrong?
This girl need's to wake up and smell the coffee and get rid of her boyfriend maybe their is a reason why this 22 year old boy doesn't live at home maybe he is 'TROUBLE' and no one wants anything to do with him.. life is not a bed of roses and it isn't easy we all had to listen to our parents rules and live by them at 21 year's of age, if she cant stand the heat maybe she should find a place of her own and pay rent and bills like all of us, nothing is free in this world and she needs to grow up and realize her parents are not her enemy they love her and want what's best for her. The neighbor is right and i hope they call the town on her, she needs to get back in her own house with her mother and father and live by their rules and deal with it.

Re: Do you think the neighbor is wrong?
i applaud her parents for not putting up with her c rap and standing up for their values. she is an adult that is making a poor choice. she doesn't have to live under her parents' roof if she doesn't like their rules.
she needs to grow up and the neighbor should not be involved

Re: Do you think the neighbor is wrong?
Been there, done that and I agree with the parents. It's their house and if she does not like it then I guess she prefers to live on the streets with her broke boyfriend. Personally, I was back home within about 30 days (broke the lease on the apt. we had rented).
I am curious though. How was the BF living in their house w/o permission? Also, they saved money and bought a used car but did not use that money to rent an apartment or even rent a room someplace? They are idiots!!
The parents should change the locks. There is no reason to allow her to come in to eat and shower. If she wants to be grown and live with a man - then do it fully or not at all.

She's 21 years old. They're not FORCING her to live that way, she should get a job and rent an apartment like the rest of us.
Why is it no one has to take any responsibility for themselves anymore? At 21 you are more then able to get a job and decide on your own if you want to move in with your boyfriend

They should be consistent...if your daughter is kicked out don't let her back in for food or showers

omg! what kind of scum of the earth parents would let their own flesh and blood live like that?!
sorry to be judgmental, but that is disgusting!

thank you I am with you! it's her parents house and if she doesn't like it then she knows what she can do about it. They didn't kick the daughter out.. they just don't want the guy living there.. and being that they live in a car.. they should park somewhere else to sleep/live. it's not fair to the neighbors.. i agree with others on that part.

Re: Do you think the neighbor is wrong?
I personally would not want a person living in a car on MY street, but what are the parents supposed to do in this situation? It's the girl that needs a wake up call.

Re: Do you think the neighbor is wrong?
I agree with the neighbor. It is trashy to let your 21 year old daughter live in a car outside your house. It's unacceptable.
ETA I don't think they should have to let the boyfriend in though. They need to tell the daughter to park somewhere else if she can't live with them.

Re: Do you think the neighbor is wrong?
Ummm I'd call the town. He wants that living in front of their house. Not me. I hate to say it but it sounds pretty trashy. And Im sorry but if you want to live in a car go elsewhere to shower. I wouldn't be letting you in my house to eat my food and use my hot water.

Firstly we do not know what kind of character the boyfriend is. It is obvious though that the daughter is more influenced by him then her parents.
She is 21 years old. She is not a child. Her parents have most likely, like the majority of parents, tried to instill good values to her. They told her that the boyfriend can not live in THEIR house. This is their right and I agree with them.
If she thinks she has all the answers and refuses to abide by her parents rules then she is making that choice.
I think, as a parent myself, faced with a similar situation I would not give in and let her have her boyfriend live in the house. What happens next then? You come home from work and find them having sex in your bed? Let her deal with the consequences of her actions and let's see where the boyfriend is when things get really tough. Her parents will always be there for her. I doubt the boyfriend will. It's a hard lesson she will have to learn. you are right... I def agree w/you.
my only issue is that everyone is so hung up on saying she's a 21 yr old adult. but as a parent, do your kids and their personal safety not matter when they reach that age?
I just think it is SO dangerous!! there are a lot of sick people in this world. I think the parents should call the cops on them. at least a jail cell is safer than out in the street.
on the street??? she is living in a car in front of their house- Do they live in Beriut?

Re: Do you think the neighbor is wrong?
That is my point. If I were 50 and living at home, Id still have to follow my parents' rules. Thats just the way it is. There is no negotiation.
Funny story as an aside. My sister once threatened to run away from home as a young child. So my mother opened the door for her and said that she was going to leave the world the same way she came in - buck naked - and told her to take off all of her clothes. Needless to say, she stayed.

ITA - she sounds like a immature spoiled brat.
I do believe she is trying to embarrass them, and feels they will give in. I hope they stick to their guns.

Parents like what?
Prents that would KICK their daughter out of the house with no where to go...that is awful and they should be ashamed of themselves....I can never understand a parent doing that...period
I'm sorry, I agree with the neighbors, but I dont fault the parents for kicking her out. She is 21, not 16. She can get a job and find a place to live.
BUt I would as a parent say live however you choose, but not in front of my house.

Re: Do you think the neighbor is wrong?
I agree with the neighbor - and if I were the parents, I might just call the town myself. They threw her out because she was living with the boyfriend. I understand that she is their daughter, but at the same time allowing her back in to shower and eat only adds to the problem. If she is out, she is out...that's it.
When I was 18, I didn't want to live with my mother's rules and she gave me two options - stay or go. I left, got an apartment and lived on my own ever since. She was right and she didn't coddle me about it.
