Can anyone give a general idea of the cost to...
Finish a basement? Saw a house with an unfinished basement we liked...whats a ballpark figure to finish it?

We have a split and it was our lowest level in the house. We hired someone by the day and from beginning to end it probably cost us around $35,000 and that was with the appliances and the furniture. We ran into a few issues so that might be why it cost a little more. On this board women have had allure come in and they have given them $50,000 estimates and so have some other companies. Our $35,000 included making a 1/2 bath a 3/4 bath, new washer/dryer, new boiler, new cesspoll, refacing a fireplace etc. There are pics in my album if you want to see the progress.

This is about the price I've repeatedly heard from fiends who have refinished their basement (this is without a bathroom).

Depends on what you want but ours was around $7000. But we got quotes all the way up to $20,000 for the same job

About 10,000-12000 for average finishing, sheetrock, etc of regular basements without adding a bath of course.

Re: Can anyone give a general idea of the cost to...
Ours was a little over 10,000 I think...it was a pretty basic one though, no bathroom. We made it into one big room, one smaller room for and office, an even smaller little room for the boiler and a laundry room.. The biggest expense for us was all of the electrical work

Re: Can anyone give a general idea of the cost to...
Are you hiring a contractor or doing the work yourself?
We have a full basement and finished only half of it. DH did all the work himself and it cost about $6-7,000. We didn't put a bathroom down there because that would have dramatically raised the price due to hiring a plumber and such.

DH is not handy so I would guess we would have to hire someone

Depends on what you want...I think just regular framing/sheetrock/taping and compound and painting, and floors..depending on what type of floors you want...and size of basement...roughly $8 to $10K??
If you want one of those basement systems, I think we got an estimate for $20K for a basement of 1380 sq ft.
