Good companies on LI
I know once my DH and I want to start a family I will want to get a job on LI. So I was wondering if you could all share with me the good companies to work for on LI (pay, benefits, time off, maternity leave, etc.). I'm CPA, so I can work in almost any company.
Also, do any companies have day care?

I believe Computer Associates is a biggie in LI, that also has daycare. I am pretty sure...b/c they were once looking for daycare workers so that is why I remember. But I dont personally know anyone who has worked for them.
I believe they have a website too.

Symbol has a daycare, but I think they're just recoving from some shadey doings in upper management.

They were bought out by Motorola, and have had lots of layoffs recently.

CA has a revolving door approach to its employees--I have never seen such turnover in my life!! (I used to work there).

When I used to deal with them 10 years ago, CMP Media had on site daycare. Not sure if they still do.
Hofstra has a daycare facility on campus, it's private but I think that HU employees are moved to the top of the wait list.

yeah, they restated their financials back many years- not the best company to work for if your in finance.

They no longer offer this and have recently restructured their LI location. Many jobs were moved to NYC.

I used to work at NBTY- I would not recommend them- they are doing a lot of structural changes right now.

I work for Stony Brook University. On the hospital side. Great pay and benefits. You can go to www.sunysb.edu and look under jobs. They have positions available all the time. And it's also unioned.

see, the schools idea sounds great but their accounting is very different from a public companies accounting, so i don't have much experience in that. i'm sure i could learn, but i have a ton of experience with public companies.

pay is average, day care full cost for any family making a living wage (discounts mainly benefit students)
