[no offense but that is really mean....like i posted above, i am not an "overeater" but I naturally have a very very hard time staying "thin" to society's standards. I have a slow metabolism and the chubby gene! it was very mean
it's not like she said "youre so skinny i hate you!"
she probably said "youre so skinny i hate you"
BIG difference!
How did this comment become about your "chubby jean"?
The "tape your mouth shut" comment was meant for the insensitive person to "SHUT UP" more than it meant "stop eating"!
I know many people who (like the person who made the original comment) are heavy and not happy about it dont realize it, but I think it is just as rude for someone to say "youre so skinny" as it is for them to say "youre so FAT!" So perhaps answering my way will make them realize how rude it was! That's all I meant!

I hate people that comment about other's weight, whether it be heavy or skinny- I think it is just really obnoxious . . .

Re: "You're so skinny, I hate you!"
i get this too and although people arent being "mean" it is an awkward thing to say! sometimes id be like, "umm..sorry?" or a plain old, "thanks?"
now i make sure i tell them i eat well and work out. i think people should know that certain bodies are very attainable!

You could always respond with "I hate you more!"
OR...
"Well, you're so fat, I hate you!"

I guess this woman just can't give a nice compliment without adding the "i hate you" part. Some people just can't give compliments.

I would just smile and take the compliment, even though it was hard to respond to!

Re: "You're so skinny, I hate you!"
Considering I struggle really hard for my figure, I would be overjoyed if someone said that. I'd respond "yay, I love you." But, that's just me BUT, on the flip side, I would never say that to someone because it is very awkward. I know they wouldn't know what to say.

Re: "You're so skinny, I hate you!"
I get that often and it makes me uncomfortable, especially after having my son. How about "skinny b1tch" - got that walking out of work a few weeks ago from someone in my dept. She meant it as a compliment, but still, it's not how it was received. You don't know why I look like this - I actually dropped a lot of weight due to major stomach issues and have to be very careful what I eat. It's just rude!!

BEcause Saying I hate you , your so thin is a COMPLIMENT...Why is that hard to understand for some?
That is understood. IMO there is a nicer way of giving that kind of compliment. I just don't like the feeling of not knowing what to say when someone says that to me.
Just say thanks. Its a compliment- albeit it an awkward one. You are right, there are nicer ways to say it- but sometimes people don't think it out or have a momentary lapse of judgment. Other people are just socially awkward.

Exactly... I mean I know they probably mean it as a compliment, but it really puts me on the spot b/c I can't say the same thing back.
You don't need to compliment someone back when they compliment you. "Thank You" is sufficient.

Re: "You're so skinny, I hate you!"
I think weight-related comments, fat, thin, pregnant or whatever...are not needed and no one's business. If someone says something you don't like...smile, laugh or ignore it. People are going to say rude things. Try having a sibling with a disability; the comments don't stop rolling. Just let it all roll off your back, Jess!

Re: "You're so skinny, I hate you!"
The person must be envious. There are certainly nicer ways to compliment you, so just try to smile and say thank you. Whenever I get a comment like that, I typically say "Stop! You look great... those earrings are amazing" or something like that.

why is this thread still going?
It was a compliment and those thin comments are always meant to be a compliment. Say thank you and move on...

I can't stand these type of comments My weight is average for my height and people are always telling me how skinny I am. I feel like saying, I'm not skinny, everyone else is fat!!! No one should comment on anyone's weight period. There are many people thinner than I , and it would never occur to me to tell them they are skinny
ITA. i understand that sometimes it is medically related but i have NO sympathy for those that b!tch about their weight, comment to others in re: to how thin they are and then run home and eat a cheesburger, fries and a shake. if one is so unhappy w/ their wieght and jealous of those that are thin, then stop complaining and DO something about it.

wait, aren't you the one that once posted "since when is a size 0 a good thing?. i would never want to be a size 0". should we view this statement as a compliment as well?

first off... that was a different post about Britney Spears and the way she put it across in the media... well, i'm not even going to try to explain it because it has already been pulled out of context.
And no i would not want to be a size 0. Personally, i am happy with my body so i don't need to be a size 0. A size 0 would look horrible on me!
