Trying to plan a 7 day trip (not including flight) to Switzerland. Will have a car but also don’t mind taking g the train to places- any suggestions on towns that are must see or things to do? More into nature and landscapes - small villages, etc

This will be in April .

Thanks!

Re: Switzerland

I haven’t travelled a ton in Switzerland, but I really liked Bern and Appenzeller (great cheese, too!). The ride to Appenzeller was simply amazing. I also liked Interlaken.

If I were you and had 7 days, I’d do a city (maybe the one you land in?) of some sort and then two days at a nice b&b in two country towns.

Zurich was OK, but like you, I prefer the countryside.

I stick to the German part of Switzerland. You might want to check out the French/Italian part as well. Up to you.

If you are driving, don’t forget to get your vignette or check with your rental place if it is included.

Re: Switzerland

Lucerne for sure. It's a little touristy but justifiably so - it's gorgeous and the painted bridges are amazing.

Also Lugano. The Swiss Miniatur Village outside of it is awesome and the village of Lugano is gorgeous. We did a cruise on Lake Lugano and it's one of the prettiest places I've ever been. It's on the border with Italy.

I was going to say Lucerne too- it was so quaint and pretty- exactly how I'd imagined Switzerland.

We went to Switzerland to ski a couple times when I was a kid. We were in Zermatt, and while it was almost 30 years ago I will never forget the views of the Matterhorn. Stunning. I would love love to go back. On another trip we took a train literally up through the inside of a mountain. It was so cool. The highest train station in Europe or something like that. The town we stayed in was Grindelwald and I think the train was called the Jungfrau railway.
