So angry!! WWYD?
I thought I booked DS party for 10/1 at Wood Kingdom. I called and gave the woman all my info a few weeks ago and she said to come down with the deposit but everything was set. Fast forward to today, I realized I never gave the deposit. I called and the guy said I had no party booked. I literally put the invites in the mail today. If I had any inclination that there was an issue I would have expected a call. The customer service was nonexistant, the guy just blamed me, and said tough luck. I am fuming!
DH thinks we should still have it there, but the remaining times are terrible. We could move it to the next day, but I don't even know if I want to have the party there now.
Should I look for a new place? I'm afraid everything else will be booked. I am just so appalled by the response and lack of assistance from WK that I want to go and punch that asshole in the face!

I would change locations or just have it at my house. You could get a sick bounce house or something for the same price that place is going to charge you.

Every place I have booked required an on the phone cc charge to hold the date. I have never been able to book anywhere without a cc hold for a birthday. I am really surprised that they would say it was ok to book without a charge.

That sucks. Is it the Coram one? We had dd's last party there. The older guy at the desk was kind of useless and grumpy. I will say though, the party was awesome. The party hosts were great and it was the best run of the parties we went to this year. If you can find a time that works I'd go with it.

I would completely understand and take it on the chin if she had said, this is a hold for 24 hours or we need the deposit by X date - it just slipped my mind because she made it seem like all was good on their end and I had no reason to question the validity of the party.

Ugh, I don't know. Like you, I woudl be so furious I wouldn't want to have to deal with them or give them my business.
I'd call around a few other places today to see if they have the same date and if so, go with them.

Exactly - and the fact that there was ZERO level of customer service to even say, I apologize for the error or miscommunication so what can do to help you? When I planned weddings there were always issues with vendors, holds, and we ALWAYS apologized whether the mistake was ours or not, just because it's good customer service rather than fight with a potential customer.

I don't think its their responsibility to make sure their customers pay for their reservations. I would think it would be my responsibility as the booker.

I do agree with this; most places will not tell you that you have a confirmed reservation without giving some sort of deposit or cc info to hold the date
They probably receive numerous calls each day inquiring about parties for specific dates and times and whoever give them payment gets the time they want
I do think someone should have made a note of your requested party time and before booking someone else they should have contacted you to see if you were interested. Based on that lack of service, I would not want to give them my business and I would look elsewhere.

You only have 3 weeks until Oct 1. Most places are probably booked. I would go with Wood Kingdom if they have a date that works for you.
Something similar happened to me at laser tag. I called and this guy told me all I needed to do was call 2 weeks prior with headcount. I called a few days later and this lady said I did not have a reservation and another party was booked. I was livid. I had already sent out invitations. It turned out to be fine but it was unnecessarily stressful.

Yeah, I'd be pretty pissed too. Sounds like they aren't very thorough.

I agree. Every place I have done DDs parties at requires a deposit to hold your spot.
If the time you originally wanted is not available I would find a new place or just do it in your home.

Yeah, sorry but I would not expect them to hold a date for me without a deposit. I don't think it's their responsibility, but it would have been curteous to call you back a few days later to make sure you still wanted the date.

I'm not asking anyone to tell me if my party was or was not reserved - clearly people have different interpretations. What I AM actually asking is if I should try to have the party there or somewhere else.

I kinda agree. I booked a place for DD's christening and the guy was on vacation so I couldn't meet him to sign the contract and give my deposit for a week. He assured me multiple times the place was ours and I had the invites printed and addressed but I still waited until the day I put down the deposit. I just didn't want to chance it.
ETA: I'd suck it up and have the party there.

I think it depends on what your DS wants. If he is set on that place, I'd have it there. If the place is not really important for him, I'd definitely look somewhere else.

I don't know how old the kids are but World Gym across the street does pool parties and they are flexible with the price sometimes.
ETA: There is also All Stars Arena and Coram bowl right there too.
