Am I crazy? Bachelorette party
Do think it's a little excessive to expect each guest to pay $120 just for dinner? The plan was to do dinner at a nice restaurant and hit a bar afterwards. $120 is just for food not including the bar afterwards.
I'd just like to say that this was a suggestion from a bridesmaid that balked at the idea of pitching in $100 towards the shower because according to her it was too much for a four hour party.

$120 each for dinner is excessive imo. I don't think $100 is too much to put in for a bridal shower thou.

$120 just for dinner is a little too much. How many bridesmaids are there?

Re: Am I crazy? Bachelorette party
Its not a prixe fix menu and no drinks are not included just food. There are 6 bridesmaids but there will be other guests attending as well.

Re: Am I crazy? Bachelorette party
So basically the bridesmaids are paying for the other guests also. Not cool with me. Of course I'd chip in for the bride, but not for everyone. And drinks aren't even included? No way.

No the bridesmaids arent pitching in for the other guests . Each guest is expected to pitch in themselves

I'm sorry but that's laughable. No drinks? $120 for just dinner? She's going to end up with no one there.

It depends on where the dinner is. I very easily could spend $100 per person for dinner without drinks and then add another $20 to cover the bride. My DH and I just went to Vintage and spent about $250 and neither of us drink.

Re: Am I crazy? Bachelorette party
Seems excessive to me, but then again, I chose not have a bach party. I am not a fan of them, after all the other expenses. You are talking about a good $250 night I think then. That's a lot to ask for ladies already paying for dresses, shoes, gifts, etc.

Re: Am I crazy? Bachelorette party
That doesn't sound excessive at all to me.
Nice place? Over 6 people. There will be a lot of apps, dinners and desserts - tax & proper tip? And obviously covering the brides part?
That sounds like not enough For a fancy dinner spot.

Am I crazy? Bachelorette party
If it's not price fixe how do they know it will be 120 a person? I think it's excessive. Im not saying I would never spend $120 on dinner but I don't think its a great option for a bachelorette party.

I agree I don't think it is excessive when you factor everything in.

I thought it's excessive for each person because it's only dinner. They still expect to go out to bars afterwards.

Re: Am I crazy? Bachelorette party
Depends where it is and maybe she padded the cost? I threw my bff a bach party last week. Each girl spent $130 which included dinner, a coule glasses of sangria (some had a cocktail but no1 is a big drinker), vip table at hunkomania (brides request) and 2 drinks there.

Re: Am I crazy? Bachelorette party
Honestly I think bachelorette parties are getting out of control. My sister just went to one in new orleans for 5 days..cost about $1500 for everything. I was invited to one in vegas for 4 nights, would have been well over 1K. I had to politely decline. I keep hearing of these parties requiring travel on a plane and sometimes up to one week away. people are losing their minds. That's my opinion. Sorry to go off topic a bit I just have been wondering when things got so insane!!??

Am I crazy? Bachelorette party
Quite frankly this whole thing is getting out of control. All I wanted to do was plan shower for my sister. Then they wanted to do the bachelorette party same night so I had to switch days which is now costing me more money out of pocket. Then now she also wants to host people at her house in btwn the shower and bachelorette party so they can drink before going for dinner and some bars. It's all good and dandy bit there are some of us who have the added expense of traveling out of state for this

Am I crazy? Bachelorette party
Depending on the place, no. Is it some trendy place in the city? Do I think it's crazy? Since you mentioned drinks aren't included then yes that's a bit steep. like PP mentioned, every.single.person I know that is getting married now does bachelorette weekend trips. I think that's insane! And the best is when someone declines and the brides gets mad!!

Am I crazy? Bachelorette party
when i was looking at places in the city for my bach last year, those prices would not be crazy, albeit a bit steep to not include drinks. i am not a trendy/clubby person. we ended up at tony dinapolis and for about 15 people including wine/sangria, it was about $50 pp. not as glamorous, but didnt break anyones bank

Re: Am I crazy? Bachelorette party
I don't think it's excessive, depending upon what you're getting. I have spent at several hundred dollars at every bach I've gone to and at least 1K when I've been in the bridal party (more like 2K when I've planned them), so $120 sounds really cost-effective in my opinion!

Yes, it's an expensive dinner but it's probably at a nice restaurant, right? With all the destination bachelorette parties that result in bridesmaids having to take time off from work and spending thousands of dollars in the Caribbean or Europe, I wouldn't complain about 1 local night out.

That's the thing....it's not local for me. I have the added expense to travel plus hotel and take off work. I'm not the only one who is traveling out of state to attend either

Am I crazy? Bachelorette party
I guess it depends on the restaurant.
My dh went to AC for the night with his friends for his bach party, and the best man coordinated a nice dinner at Morton's Steakhouse. They made custom menus for the bachelor party for the guys and everything and my dh said it was a really nice dinner. It was around $100/pp because they covered my dh's plate. One of the guys is not a big drinker, and the other is completely sober, so it worked out for them to not include drinks in that price. The guys ended up just hanging out in the casino for the free drinks anyway lol...
I kinda think it's nice to do something like that, so that if any girls don't want to go out afterwards for whatever reason, at least they got to be a part of the festivities in some way. My SIL's bachelorette is costing us $150/pp for a winery tour, and I don't think that includes food. I think that price is pretty standard for bachelor/ette parties now idk
