a plunger, step stool, wine, and gc to local restaurants. i dont know how to package it all, but step stool and plungers are often forgotten.

Best housewarming gift I got was an electric wine bottle opener - like, a good one. They are the best. So easy and 1-2-3 open!! It's great for daily use as well as entertaining. My fave kitchen product!

I have to admit, when I moved into my condo after my divorce I did not have a plunger and it NEVER EVEN DAWNED ON ME to get one  And sure enough, one time I needed it... I ran next door and borrowed a neighbors in that pinch. But, then I bought one. And had I been given one man, that would have come in HANDY! It's just one of those things I think you overlook -- at least I sure did!!

The best gift we've ever received that is put to use all the the time, is a tool set.
ETA: If you're thinking of getting something decor wise, I would do a personalized mailbox or address plaque.

My favorite was a Gift Basket full of cleaning supplies. A box of facial masks was also thrown in the basket. I loved it.

Something like this is nice
You can get printable burlap at Walmart, and download the Split Regal font then frame it. You could also print it on cardstock and put it in a frame. Put their new address on the bottom with the est. date. I did this for someone and they loved it. I put it in a matted frame (this is a random one from Etsy I just found)

Krilly creations on Etsy has slate signs that are so pretty and you can have personalized. Someone got me one for my bridal shower that I have hanging when you walk in and I've ordered a couple more to change with the seasons.

the best housewarming gift we got was a game night basket my sister made. we did get lots of Home Depot/Lowes gift cards and homegoods which were awesome. we also got a few cleaning baskets full of cleaning supplies and household products. But the best by far was the game night basket. its things you'd never buy yourself, its not practical, and its actually something fun to do in you new home, and we have already got tons of use out of it!

Someone got me a step stool with a slop bucket. The bucket was filled with brillo pads, magic erasers, multi-purpose cleaners, etc. It was a very useful gift

best gift i ever received: tool set
gift i gave that was best received: gift basket with menus for all the local joints with a gift card to my favorites... along with other home care items: cleaning supplies and a nice bottle of wine.
