Driving into the city tomorrow?
Dh gets off super early tomorrow and I wasthinking of taking dd in to meet him around 10.
Is there any chance Of me finding street parking? Dh works above grand central.
I just think it would be easier to drive, because dd could nap in her seat on the way there and back, and I wouldnt have to worry about folding the stroller while wrangling her on a seat

It will be tough. There are parking specials sometimes of you're in by a certain hour, sometimes 9, it's $20 for the day

I work in the Met Life Bldg and there is never street parking over there. IMO better to garage it. There are a ton of parking garages

Re: Driving into the city tomorrow?
Don't bother even trying - Park in the Garage.
Or, if she will sleep in the stroller you don't have to pack it up and take her out if you take the train ........ There are elevators at the stations, and you can roll the stroller into the handicapped section of the train and there's a pull down bench for you to sit.
Good Luck - it's 100 freakin' degrees already and I got in at 7:30 am -

No street parking in the area. The further east you go the cheaper parking should be. Check bestparking.com.

Driving into the city tomorrow?
I guess I'll just do a garage. I don't mind walking when I get in, like I said it's just the train itself I don't want to deal with-I think she napped in her stroller once in like6 months lol

There is a Garage on 43rd b/w 2nd and 3rd that is usually available and not overpriced. It is across from the Pfizer Building.

While I understand not wanting to deal with the train, I would recommend taking the train as you may be facing a 2 hour drive into the city depending on where you live (especially at 9-10 am).

Re: Driving into the city tomorrow?
no. There will not be street parking.
What I WOULD do is google "NYC parking coupon".
You can look and see what garages have coupons and print it. This way it CAN save you $20 or more.
You MUST print the coupon and bring it with you.

Definitely check bestparking.com You can at least find a decent priced garage ahead of time and some even allow you to prepay or reserve.
If you're coming back home in the afternoon, be prepared to sit in lots of traffic.

And depending on when you head back home. You will hit ridiculous traffic heading out east.

Yes, especially on a summer Friday. I think train is truly your best option

Re: Driving into the city tomorrow?
Most likely won't really find any street parking unless you go down a bit more and more towards east side, in which case maybe you'll find one hour parking, but agreed garage is your best bet.
I've driven from city around 1-3pm into Long Island (and I'm right after Queens) and sometimes takes me 2 hours because of traffic on Fridays.
