Going to the city tomorrow
With DH and DS (3 yrs old). We are going to see FIL at work, the tree at rockefellar and Bryant park. Any other suggestions for inexpensive things to do in the city with a 3 year old?

Re: Going to the city tomorrow
we did it yesterday....
1. went to the shops at bryant park (free) - you can also ice skate there and go on the carousel (2.00). Ice skating is free - but i don't know how much it is for skate rentals.
2. we also walked down 5th ave to FAO schwartz - the windows at Sax are AMAZINGLY gorgeous!!!!
3. there's a HUGE Disney store not far from FAO - if you're going...it's multi-leveled.
4. we did the tree & watched the building across from it - it's done up in snowflakes that go to the song 'carol of the bells'.
5. we did the macy's santa... they can take a pic with YOUR camera!!!!!!! (that would be free - otherwise - it's 18 bucks for a 6X8 pic & paper frame). We got the photo that they took (because it's going to be a tradition of ours) and they took TWO with my own camera!

Re: Going to the city tomorrow
Macy's Santa Land Toys R Us carousel Bryant Park isn't as crowded.
Most importantly, DRESS WARM. It's supposed to be freezing tomorrow.
You're better off in a subway to Times Square or Rock Center then a cab in my opinon.

Thanks for the great tips!

hershey's is a small store - surprisingly... There is one thing to 'do' - but not sure what it is or how it works - there is someone there though...and just by walking in - you get a piece of chocolate.
m&m is HUGE - MULTILEVELED (3 floors)....they have EVERYTHING you can think of in there that has to do with M&M's ONLY.... to do....not much though...but they have m&m mixes from all kinds of teams, (nets, knicks, yankees, mets, etc.)...

Re: Going to the city tomorrow
We tried to go to FAO Schwarz on Saturday but there was a super long line outside to just get into the store.
We also went to grand central station where they had a cute holiday train exhibit. There was also a light show that really wasn't very impressive but DS loved looking around Grand Central so I thought that was worth the trip inside.

If you are looking for a place for lunch - we went to Patsy's Pizza yesterday (the location across from Bloomingdales) and it was very child-friendly. We were seated immediately and were even able to bring the double stroller in (DS was asleep in it).
ETA: FAO was actually pretty empty yesterday so maybe the weekdays are less crowded.

How was it inside FAO Schwarz?
We may head back this weekend but last weekend was such a zoo! We went to Rockefeller Center but turned back. Everyone was telling us that there was no way we'd get all the way to the tree with a stroller. Waaaaay crowded and lots of pushing.
