Would this concern you? Ped related

We go to a group practice.
We were camping this weekend and DS (14 months) got bit by a tick.
I called the ped this am and they said they just will do blood work on DS in 6 weeks.

DH actually called too not knowing I called. They told him something completely different. They told him to pick up an script for bloodwork and to have tick tested at good sam hosp.

I am concerned I got 2 completely different answers. I get that pediatricians have different opinions but this to me should be something they are all on the same page about.

Would this concern you?
Would you say something?

Also has anyone's child recently been bit by a tick? what was the protocol following?

Thanks!!!

I would absolutely call back and say my husband called not knowing I already did and got a different answer and now you are unsure of what the correct protocol is. If you have the tick I would bring it to good sam and get it tested I guess for lyme disease.

whoever answered the phone put me on hold and asked someone. I assumed the dr.

The script was written by one of my favorite doctors there.

I would definitely say something to the doctor you usually see. That is not ok in my opinion.

My nephew who is five recently got bit by a tick.he has a bull eye on his back. They took him to the dr. They found out he has Lyme disease. They took him to the dr today and got the results the same day. Hope things turn okay for your son.

Here's a good link.

Treatment depends on how fast you found the tick.

thanks everyone one for your opinions.

I took him for the bloodwork only to realize my pediatrician also never did 1 year old bloodwork. I am mad at myself for not remember but in the end they should be the one telling me.

I have well visit in 2 weeks and plan on discussing all my concerns.
