Talk to me about netflx, I know nothing lol
I feel like cablevision stinks. We have the silver package which includes a bunch of movie channels but there's never anything good on. The number of commercials during a one hour show is out of control and I feel like we spend all of our time changing channels.
People always talk about Netflix but I do not know how it works.
Are there commercials?
Is all the channels that are on cablevision?
Can you pause it like dvr?
We have an Xbox, it works on that?
Can you watch stuff anytime you want?
Anything negative about it?

2. No. It is a collection of tv shows and movies

5. As long as it is available you can watch things at any time.
We've probably had it for ten years, since there were discs
It is definitely worth it. It isn't like traditional tv watching (i.e. 'let's watch Sex and the City at 10pm) but you can always find stuff to watch.
I like the recent development that you can have different users, my DS is 6 and can operate it.
You can also use on an ipad, iphone, laptop, etc.

Pretty much everything the pp said!
We have broadcast basic with cablevision (basically 13 channels) so we watch a ton on netflix. There aren't really current episodes since they add a season at a time but it's definitely perfect for binge watching. DH and I usually watch an episode of the same show every night of whatever our current fave is. We don't watch a ton of movies but we do watch documentaries occasionally. There's lots of great stuff for kids too of course.

I love Netflix. We stream it to the TV through the Roku. I also watch on the laptop- it makes cleaning the kitchen after dinner a little more enjoyable.
ETA- I seldom get to sit down and watch something in its entirety- but my place is always saved even if I don't get back to it for a few days. And the selection is pretty good, I am always able to find things that interest me.

I LOVE NETFLIX. we've been using it for about 4 years.
we have a roku for the living room tv. we also use our iphones, laptops, xbox, ps3, and wii to watch in different rooms.
i especially love all the things i would not have "normally" been exposed to: british tv and documentaries up the wazoo!!! i have a serious love or ken burns! the man can do no wrong!
the cheapest package is less than $10/month. and i think it's the best entertainment money we spend.
getting rid of cable and going to netflix has been a great choice and my only regret is that i didn't do it years earlier!

You have piqued my curiosity but I KNOW DH will not let me cancel Cablevision because of the access to sports stuff.
It's so frustrating.

I think their selection of movies is pretty lame. They have some mainstream movies but they have a lot more that no one has ever heard of. We canceled ours awhile ago but use my mom's account if there happens to be something we want to watch on it.

this. i was getting sick of the selection. we now have hulu, which will probably be canceled shortly. we will move onto another site.
i go to my parents house and dvr the items i want to watch on cablevision and then binge watch them.

It's so frustrating.
Same in this house… I RARELY sit down to watch tv. I'd rather read, surf the web, etc. DH on the other hand, watches TV every night and almost 100% of the time when he is home, it is on. We pay $$$ for expensive soccer premium channels.

You realize Netflix drops and adds movies all the time, right? Not sure why this was a news story. We've had Netflix for years and this is nothing new. Movies are constantly being cycled for their streaming service.
