E.A.S.Y and newborn routine help
Ive hear so many contradicting things from people and articles about routines. I was doing the eat play sleep routine but I don't want dd associating a bottle with then playtime bc now she won't go down easily after her last bottle. She sleeps ok at night but I need help.
What worked for all of you? I need help.

E.A.S.Y and newborn routine help
How old is your DD? When you give her last bottle, is it in a dark room? What about switching it up at nighttime for you to read to her to calm her down (instead of play) a bit then give her her bottle?

E.A.S.Y and newborn routine help
We developed a nighttime routine so he knows that it is bedtime. On bath nights it is easier and I think he sleeps better. We do a bath, DH gives him his lotion and aquaphora and baby powder routine, I put his PJs on, and DH gives him his bottle. On non bath nights we do everything but the bath. DS knows that bedtime is coming and gets very sleepy, as opposed to his other bottles.
EDITED: wanted to add that we do what the above said. We make sure that there is always lights on throughout the day and at night, when it's bedtime we make it a little darker in the room.

E.A.S.Y and newborn routine help
I never had any sort of routine or schedule. Still do not "hold" him to anything.
As an infant he ate when he was hungry and slept when he was tired. Played in between. It he ate 3 hrs and then the next was 5 I didn't care as long as the end of day total was on point.
Now he wakes when I have to get ready for work, eats 3 meals generally around the same time and naps in the middle of the day....but if he doesn't nap oh well.
He was colicy as a newborn and now if the best littel guy. Goes to be without fuss, naps without a fuss....

exactly this
i love the EASY routine because it is just that, a routine. not a strict rigid schedule.

Re: E.A.S.Y and newborn routine help
Eat-Play-Sleep worked for for us. How old is your baby? When DS was a newborn, it wasn't easy to put him down to sleep at night, but I don't think that had anything to do with him playing after eating during the day. He just had to learn that nighttime is for sleeping, and his body/brain had to adjust to that.

E.A.S.Y and newborn routine help
She's 11 weeks and so far has slept great at night. She could go from 8pm up to 4am although its more common to go to 2am then back down. The last couple of nights tho she wil, fall asleep at her bedtime bottle but then when we out her in the crib shortly after she would be wide awake. Not sure if it's a leap (wonder week) or some development.
I was thinking of doing eat sleep play but then if she falls asleep I can't wake her up to play without her getting pissed.

Never wake a sleeping baby. So if she eats and falls asleep so what....be flexible. She is only 11 weeks and even if she is on a "routine" It can change a million and one times.
My best advice is just go with it!!!

Re: E.A.S.Y and newborn routine help
My friend told me about eat, sleep, play. It seems to be working for her but DD is about to turn 6 weeks and it just seems to be too much at this age. We're just kind of winging it at this point and once she gets older, we'll try and establish more of a routine.

Re: E.A.S.Y and newborn routine help
I use the routine because I find it to be very accurate. My DS really does get tired after an hour and a half/2 hours and he does get hungry every three hours. The only thing with me is that I really can't stay in everyday, all day to ensure the routine happens. Truthfully, on many days that I go out he gets overstimulated and doesn't nap as soon as he should. He ends up crying himself to sleep, etc. so, my advice is that it is a true routine, but don't be strict.
