toddler routine and a newborn
Now that DS2 is here, the one question I always had was how do you not interfere with your toddler's routine with a newborn? We have a perfect routine for bedtime and naps. I know it will get crazy but how did you manage especially when being alone? Once Dh goes to work I'm scared of what is to come.

Its hard having a toddler and a newborn. Ive stuck to DDs routine..but I do have help from my DH. With a newborn its not that tough since they sleep all the time anyway- allowing you to get stuff done!

Try to keep the schedule the same. If that means letting the NB cry for a few minutes, it's okay. However, to prevent that (and something I should have done) you can try using a moby wrap or something to wear the baby and keep him calm/quiet while you take care of your older DS.
Also, I highly highly recommend using a sound machine if you don't already so your older DS will sleep well even if the NB is crying.

Totally agree!
The newborn will adapt to your toddler's schedule soon enough. We kept DD to as close to her schedule as possible.

So far we haven't changed ds1 schedule at all. DS2 is a MUCH better sleeper than is brother. I haven't had to use the bjorn yet because DS2 likes sleeping alone unlike Xavier who always wanted to he held. Thanks for the idea of carrying him if I need to while helping DS1. I may have to do this once Dh starts working his crazy schedule again.

I also meant to ask for those that EBF how did you handle that during dc1 bedtime routine? I'm thinking I will need to bottle feed to avoid a toddler tantrum and a newborn screaming for milk. Dh helps me out a lot right now. Once he works his crazy hours I will be by myself and don't think I can handle.bf one while trying to tend to another's demands.
