Nighttime routine for newborn

What is your nighttime routine for your newborn? What time do you put them to bed? My granddaughter is almost 3 weeks old. She's getting a bottle every 3 hrs or so. There really isn't a "routine" yet. She gets bathed around 8 or 9. Then she gets a bottle. She usually sleeps in her boppy on the couch with her mom and dad. After her next feeding around 11:30-12, they put her in her bassinet. Should they be bathing her earlier and putting her in her bassinet instead of having her in the living room with them?

At that age I was sleeping downstairs with DS in his rocker usually till 2am or so when I would bring him upstairs to his cradle. He woke every 2-3 hours and was a loud sleeper so I tried to keep him out of our bedroom as much as possible for DH's sake. He was back at work and I was EBF so I was the one getting up with him. We really didn't get into a schedule until 8 weeks or so when we started putting him down around the same time every night, which is between 9:30-10:00 right now. He's been in his crib in his own room since 4 weeks.

At that age its really hard to have a routine especially because you're feeding on demand. They create their own schedules. I was pretty much doing the same thing, bathing her, feeding her and putting her in the swing until I was ready to go into bed, than I'd take her and put her in the bassinet swaddled. However, she was waking up about ever 2 hrs so sleep was very rough.

I didn't worry about any routines at that age. My DD was eating every 3hrs., sometimes she would sleep in between feedings and sometimes not. She didn't like her pack n play or cradle early on so she slept on our chest a lot. Honestly, at this early age don't worry about any sort of routine, follow their lead and do whatever works. Worrying about a specific routine at this age will do nothing more than stress you out.

Thanks so much for your replies!! It's been a long time since I had a baby and I didn't think there could be a routine yet at this young age. So far she's an excellent baby. She sleeps ALOT. She wakes for her feeding, gets crazy if the bottle isn't ready. Then after her feeding usually goes back to sleep till the next one. She sleeps in their room and as soon as she wakes for a bottle, my daughter takes her out of the room and feeds/changes her so my son in law can sleep. Then she goes back to sleep.
