newborn betime routine?

how long from start to finish does it take you?

last night we started at 7:15 did a bath, dressed, bottle in her rocker in her room very dimly lit - that took about an hour BUT then we had to go back into DD room a couple of times because she was fussing/waking up - so she didnt fall asleep until 9. is that normal or do your children fall asleep the first time you put them down.

if it makes a difference DD is 9 weeks old and we have only been doing a bed time routine for a week.

45mins - 1 hour!

bath, ready for bed, bottle, sleep Chat Icon

it will take you time to fine tune. she will also become more accustomed to it and it will go more smoothly, faster.

Re: newborn betime routine?

Youll get the hang of it as will she. It will get quicker. We don't usually do a bath at bedtime bc we get home late (my mom and dad do it in the afternoon) but the routine now takes us 15 minutes (we take him upstairs, change diaper and pj's, play a minute, give a bottle in the rocker and read a book). We started a 6 weeks and it works well. She's little still but eventually the routine will signal sleep and she will hopefully fall asleep as soon as she hits the bed Chat Icon (DS did, it was beautiful)

DS is 10 weeks old and our routine takes probably 20 mins.

I don't include bath time in his bedtime routine because, first of all, he doesn't get a bath every night, and we usually do baths a little earlier in the evening.

I change his diaper and put his pj's on. I turn his sound machine and night light on and turn off the overhead light. I feed him his bottle in the glider and then lay him down to sleep in his crib. He's usually kind of awake still when I put him down, but he's great at putting himself to sleep.
