What's with the whining suddenly at night?!

DS is 3.5. Been sttn for a while now. Had some issues back when his 2 yr molars came in, when he transitioned to his bed and some other times. Now he's fine going to sleep, but out of the blue the last week or so he just gets up and whines for me. He usually goes back to sleep, but sometimes he whines then it turns into crying and yelling for me. His 15 month old brother is in the room next to him so I can't have him yell too long or he will wake his brother whos a light sleeper.
I've been letting him come into our room and I make a bed on the floor with some blankets if it gets bad. He goes right back to sleep, but still whines on and off once in a while. Then I don't get a good night sleep. Even if he goes back to sleep he wakes me then I wait to make sure he's ok and then tougher for me to go back to bed.
DH sleeps perfectly fine through all this.

What's with the whining suddenly at night?!

I am hoping it's just a phase. Ann is doing this at bedtime (as opposed to waking up & doing it). I try to leave her in her room at bedtime and she gets hysterical crying, screaming MOMMY MOMMY MOMMY over and over again. MOMMY I NEED YOU. MOMMY I'M LONELY WITHOUT YOU. I WANT TO BE WITH YOU. MOMMY MOMMY MOMMY.

It's been HARD. She clamps onto me and it takes all my strength to remove her. The first night it happened, I ended up letting her lay on the couch with me while I watched TV. But now, while completely heart wrenching, we are trying to leave her in her room hysterical (after reassuring her I am not going anywhere, that we love her and we each sleep in our own beds).

Seriously, it is sucking.

She's also been super sensitive all of the sudden (total waterworks over very small things).

When my 3yo wakes like this, (with the exception of when he's sick) it's usually because his room is too cold.

All summer long, he woke every single night because his room was cold, and he only sleeps with his one blanket. I tried giving him another blanket, and he sleeps in winter pjs with socks, but it still was too cold.

Maybe the change in the weather is causing him to wake at night?

Also, since my son has started preschool, he's very congested. I turned on his humidifier, and he's been sleeping better. I think the mild hum of the humidifier has helped.

DD is 3.5 and doing the same thing! She doesn't want to go to bed at night. After we put her in, she comes out...."I can't sleep, my room is too dark, i have to go potty, i need a drink, etc"

And she will also come in in the middle of the night "my headband fell off, i can't find my bunny, i need a tissue, etc"

Hoping it's a phase!!!

Must be the age bc my 3 year old is doing the same at bedtime & will wake occasionally at night. He tells us he misses us, needs a hug, there's a monster in there, he's done sleeping. Yet if we comfort him, within 10 mins max, he's fast asleep

My 2.5yr old DD does this. I think it's a phase.
She will go to bed fine and randomly wake up during the night whining and crying for me. She will it for a few mins then go back to sleep
Then she stops for a month then will start up again for a week or 2. Idk what it is!
