Is your heat on?

Just put DS down for his nap and had to put his space heater on - it was 62 in his room. It is CHILLY in the house.

With highs in the upper 50's and low 60's over the next 10 days or so, wondering if anyone has turned on their heat?

We just did this morning. Our house has horrible insulation and is always cold.

Is your heat on?

We are by the water and it is pretty cold today. It's 60 in the house. We heat with wood, so I gave into DH's begging an let him light the stove this morning. We will probably just let it heat up the house to 75 or so and let it die.

Re: Is your heat on?

Heck no. Chat Icon We usually don't turn on our heat until mid November. Besides, we only keep the heat between 62-64 in our house anyway so there isn't much of a point turning our heat on now. Chat Icon

ETA - I actually have a few windows open Chat Icon

No way. No how. Just turned the CAC off last night at 6. It's 68 in the boys room. They will go to bed in long sleeves & an extra blanket.

We aren't big heat people. Typically I will only turn the heat on in the morning to take the chill out of the air and then again after dinner. I do not like to be warm.

Re: Is your heat on?

No as with the windows closed it is very warm in the house as it is insulated very well.
I don't have a time that I wait for to turn it on though. Just like the AC, if I am hot, it goes on. If I am cold, the heat goes on.
Heat to me is very important and don't understand why people put it far down on their list of necessities and far down on their budget.

For me, keeping the heat low or off has NOTHING to do with budget or necessity.............DH and I like a cool house, that is all there is to it. I literally HATE feeling tons of heat in the house, it's stifling to me. I am always hot and I am most comfortable keeping my heat low. It's a personal preference, not a budget concern. Just sayin.

Not yet. Our thermostat is at 71 right now so even if it was switched on the heat wouldn't be coming on anyway. If we didn't take our wood burning stove out this summer I would have definitely gone for a fire today. I'm gonna miss that stove!

Ditto. We werw BLASTING that AC yesterday. We were dying.
We don't use traditional heat so we never actually turn anything on, but we don't usually fire up the pellet stove till Nov.
My house is still holding in that heat from yesterday so its actually pretty warm in here today.

We never turn our heat "off". It is always set for 68 when we are home and 65 when we are at work. If the temp drops then it goes on automatically. Even though the heat is "on" in the summer it obviously never goes on.

No! I hate paying for heat, it has to get pretty cold for me to turn it on. We just all wear hoodies if it's chilly.

Do you not consider heat a necessity and priority? I never understood how people did not include that in their monthly utility bill.
