No! I hate paying for heat, it has to get pretty cold for me to turn it on. We just all wear hoodies if it's chilly.
Do you not consider heat a necessity and priority? I never understood how people did not include that in their monthly utility bill.
I answered the first time you mentioned this but again, usually keeping your house cool is just preference, as it is for me. I haaaaate a hot house.
And while you do include heat in your monthly bills it makes sense to not jack up your heat too high, if you can tolerate a cooler house then it makes financial sense to do so as oil prices are insane. Every degree cooler you keep your house will save a ton of $$$$.

Re: Is your heat on?
We put it on this morning for the first time. It was my idea... My DH thought a sweatshirt would be enough - which maybe it would have been, but I wasn't gonna shower without the heat on! Tonight we also lit the fireplace for the first time this season!
ETA: Wow it's like 1:30am and I totally thought I was responding to this in FHF!! Sorry for crashing!!!!

Re: Is your heat on?
we have a 5 level split so it gets cold on some floors and remains warm on others.
we did not end up turning the heat on - but we did use the space heater in DS' room yesterday and last night. That worked fine! We will stick with that as long as possible.
DH and I like it COLD in our room

Is your heat on?
If it were up to me I would have put it on last night but DH refuses until we get the burner cleaned. It was 64 in my room this morning and 66 in DD's. To me that's really cold, I'm wearing a tank top and heavy sweatshirt and I still have goosebumps. I have DD in several layers. It's so interesting how different people's comfort levels are! If my house were below 64 I'd literally be freezing (and I really dislike it below 68).

Heat to me is very important and don't understand why people put it far down on their list of necessities and far down on their budget.

Not yet. It's a little chilly in the morning but fine during the day. I keep the heat at 65 anyway and thats been the temp in the house. Will probably take the ACs out soon though.

Re: Is your heat on?
Ironically I can answer this question. LOL
No our heat is not yet on. It was in the 50s ALL day yesterday and much much colder in the evenings. Right now its still mid 50s but its going to warm up to the upper 60s (hopefully 70)
Its a bit chilly down here!
Still our heat's not on yet. I am trying HARD to hold on to the tolerances I built up while living in NY. At 60 folks are in jackets by 50 they are bundled up and 40 they've got ski jackets on! I refuse. Still only in a light jacket today.
AJ has been in thermals overnight because she knocks off all her blankets! sweat pants are on too.

It's hard to budget when oil is almost 4.00 a gallon . My heat is on bc I hate the cold and I have LO's that need the house warm
I'm annoyed tho , I'm going to have a big oil bill so early in the season

Re: Is your heat on?
we are trying to hold out we just got new windows replaced in our house all three levels and our heat fixed so it runs more smoothly thru the bedrooms so I hoping to hold out until the end of the month or early nov if not I can't wait to see how efficent now our heat is going to be since it got fixed!! Plus we use those amish heaters that you plug in they are great.

Heck no. We usually don't turn on our heat until mid November. Besides, we only keep the heat between 62-64 in our house anyway so there isn't much of a point turning our heat on now.
ETA - I actually have a few windows open
Same here!

Re: Is your heat on?
LOL, the great heat debate! We have the upstairs thermostat set at 62 (it's in the baby's room) and the windows are wide open all night in our room! We rarely set the thermostats up past 64-65. Our house stays nice and cozy. So, the heat has kicked in a few nights but the windows are all still open during the day. I try and keep the heat off during the day until November 1 and like it off by April 15 or so. Hate a stuffy house!

Re: Is your heat on?
i think my main issue is that my 2 year old does not understand the concept of covering himself back up after kicking off his blankets if he is cold.
poor kid is frigid in the am.

Not for you to understand, some people have a different threshold for colder temperatures.?.? What a bizarre comment to make and twice no less. I don't see anywhere where anyone stated that it wasn't a necessity, a priority or that they don't budget for it. All I saw were some ladies saying no, it is not on yet, not cold enough for them to need/want to turn it on.

That is why I love the sleep sacks! They make them in big sizes and without feet too. Plus she hasn't tried to climb out her crib b/c of them!! I told DH we might keep her in them till college!
