What does your 3 year old do in Nursery School?

WHat does your 3 year old do in nursery school?

Do they com home with project- arts and crafts etc each day they have school?
Do they paint, color, play dough?

Just curious. bc my DD has yet to come home with a cute project she made in school.

She says they havent paintet yet (i cant say she is 100% reliable)

I do know they have snack time and time outside on the playground (she tells me that).

But I am curious as to what everyone else's child does.

FYI: she is there for 2 hrs and 45 minutes.

DS goes to nursery school 2x a week for 3 hours a day. He has been there three times, but so far he has come home with the letter of the week they're doing colored in, a few shapes dittos that they had to sort, a counting worksheet, and they made a magnet that is in the shape of their class name. At camp, they made more actual crafts, but I'm sure we will get to that soon.

ETA: I know they have also played with play dough, but I don't think they used paint, since he says he hasn't worn his smock yet (but again, who know's if he's telling the truth )

DS goes to the local preschool for 5 days a week. He's there 2.5 hours.
He's come home with some art projects. Not every day, but maybe 3 times a week. They also send home a list of the songs they sing and what tune they sing it to. They so themes each week. First week was cool bus b.c it was a lot of their first time on the bus so mostly pics of school buses, cutting out kids on the bus, etc. they did family last week and had pics they made with everyone in his family. It was cute. We went to bck to school and there I got to see a lot more of the stuff he's done.
Maybe they did work, but it's still decorated in the classroom. For instance... We will get some Halloween stuff next month, but the majority of it will come after Halloween b.c they like to post it around the class. Usually for every holiday they do tht. Some stuff goes home, but the rest is after the holiday.

Ok see thats the thing I am not seeing ANYTHING that they are doing. She comes home with NOTHING. I would like to reinforce anything that she might be doing in school but I have nothing to guide me and I am a little upset.

Believe me, I dont expect her to be learning French but I would like to know what she is doing.

DD goes to preschool 3 times a week for 2 hours and 45 minutes/day. On Mondays a traveling gym comes in for 30 minutes with them. On Wednesday they have used to do music but it is now a gross motor room with a 30 minute lesion plan, and on Fridays they have Shabbat.

For the other parts of the day, they read stories, they do circle time (season, weather, day/date), they do art projects that usually relate to either the holidays or the season, they have music, they learn letters/shapes/numbers, sorting. They also have snack time too.

We have a website where the teachers communicate with the parents what the children did each day. Today they had letters on the board and each child went to the board individually to identify a few letters and drew circles around the correct letter. They also had gym and outside play time. I get a project home about once a week or once every other week.

You probbably hear about those things bc I think those are many kids hits. I know that DD has some learning time - they cover letters, colors, shapes and numbers. I know she asks the teachers to help her write bc she already knows the above so she has come home with sheets that she is trying to write m's. She says she cuts, glues, colors and paints. She does legos, and puzzles. They do music class some days, gym some days. The do a small service once a week at this school. She is very verbal about school and will tell me in detail about the day. DD#1 on the other hand didn't tell me much other than she played and maybe did a puzzle or painted. I knowI was speaking with a momtoday and mentioned that my DD says she plays with her child. The mom said oh great at least you get that I only hear that she went out on the playground.

Etd to add she goes 4 mornings for 2.5 hours. She comes home with something every day unless it was too wet to bring home.

Thanks ladies. My dd goes only 2 days a week for 2 hrs 45 min.
She never brings home dittos and I don't get communication about their lesson for the week/ day.
I am sure they do some things as I was told they do follow zoo phonics but I wish there was evidence of this. I would also love to see some art projects.

Dd goes 3x a week for 2.5 hours. They have indoor play, outdoor play, circle time (read aloud, singing), snack and a lesson. This month the focus is on the letters A and B. she comes home with Dittoes (tracing shapes, letter/phonics ID) and we get a weekly update each week describing the activities they are doing/upcoming events. So far I am very happy with what I'm seeing and am happy with our choice.

Yes, DD did come home with A LOT of projects but not so sure about the first few weeks, kwim? Now in PreK, DD has only painted one time so far and no real projects yet.

DD comes home with projects almost everyday. She has gym, music, and swim once a week. They are also practicing letters now and matching (not with objects like last year but on dittos).

I really don't know what his day is like, and it drives me nuts.

He's had 4 classes and cried at drop off all 4 days, and at 2 pickups so far. I wish I knew what he did all day that kept him occupied so that I could talk about those things with him and reinforce the positives about being in school.

Right now, when we talk about school, he does NOT want to go. He mentions one teacher more often, and I know she picks him up and cuddles with him when he's upset. That at least makes me feel better.

It also is hard for me since my parents take him to/from school while I'm at work, so I really feel disconnected from the who preschool process.

Last year, DS went to nursery school 2 times a week for a little less than 3 hours. He came home pretty much every day with a drawing, painting, or something they had done that day. Also, before they got dismissed, the teacher would come out and give us a little 2-minute summary of what they did/learned that day. Does the teacher do that at pick up? I'm sure you can always leave a note in her backpack for the teacher or speak to the front desk about getting some feedback about what she's doing in the class. I feel like it's very important so, like you said, you can reinforce whatever she is learning. Even now in pre-k 5 days a week, he comes home 90% of the time with something from that day.

DS does projects, some come home, but some of them stay at school and they make a book of their projects to be given to us at the end of the year.

I also get a daily email of what they did that day so I can ask DS about it.

3yo DS is learning to write his letters at school. They focus on tracing (lines, circles, squares, letters). They work at the tables and also go to the front of the class to the board and easel. They focus on letters of classmate's names because DS can "read" his classmate's names.

They also have science, art, music, gym and french time.

Our school only sends art home once a week or 2 weeks. Most of their art hangs on their walls. we have back to school tonight so I suspect I will be bringing back a lot of art tonight.

No, I don't think you're wrong for wanting to know what she is up to. Ds' 2yo program sends home a "daily report card". It's a pre-printed paper with a zillion activities/lessons and the teachers circle which thing they did from each category- plus there's a space to write what snack they had and another space for random notes like "send in a bathing suit on wed" type communications. We also get a bi-weekly email with what words they are learning in their second language and a general monthly newsletter.

ETA he also comes home with a lot of stuff. Random coloring pages I toss and cute projects I hang up around the kitchen. Everything always matches the lesson. It seems sort of weekly. I think this whole week is about autumn.

All DD has come home with is a colored picture of the Bible (she goes to a catholic program).

ETA: It also bothers me that I don't know what she's doing and she barely tells me anything. I am going to speak to the teacher about it on Thursday.

Yeah. Thanks ladies. Also when I pick up I get no feedback on her day other than if I ask the teacher and I usually get she did good.
I'm so disappointed.

My 3 yo's teacher sends home a weekly newsletter on Monday detailing what the plans are for the week. I really feel at this age, it should be expected of the teachers to provide some information because 3 yr olds are not exactly reliable sources

DS goes 2x a week for 2.5 hours each day. We've only had 4 classes so far but each day hes come home with a project/craft. They've done the letters A and B and they did the seasons changing last week. He tells me they play and sing and do snack. Nothing so far about painting or play dough but they definitely color and the teachers do one on one lessons with them which I like. Today was the first day he didnt cry at drop off! I'm hoping hes getting more comfortable with the general school environment and being away from family during the day.

My kids have come home with paintings or something similar every day. Yesterday they did a project called "how many worm holes in the apple."
I know they do circle time, play time, and a short lesson. They go 3 days a week for 2.5 hrs. I don't really expect any dittos or anything like that. I have them in the 3yo class more for socialization than anything else. When they go to pre-k next year I'll expect more academic stuff.

I get a weekly newsletter from my DD's nursery school about what they are doing. I don't get a project sent home every day but I always know what the topic of the week is so we can talk about it at home.

My DS comes home with a sheet saying what they will be learning that week and any other announcements they need to let us know about.
He usually comes home with some sort of art project as well. They also started giving out little homework assignments for them. Just something little like coloring a picture or something like that.

my 3yo ds is in preschool full time at the daycare.....

every month there is a calendar with the theme for the week( plus A number, color, letter of the week). He comes home singing new songs he learned, there are colored pictures almost every day, the report each day tells what book teacher read in class, what project they worked on, the foods and how much they ate, and when they were changed and checked. They've been working on tracing letters with them this month, and we had to send in safety scissors so I'll probably be seeing that come up soon.
