Re: What does your 3 year old do in Nursery School?
Well Liam goes to daycare/preschool. It is playbased. They contrive situations to facilitate learning but, don't direct instruction in letters/numbers etc. For instance, they will finger paint with two colors to discover what color they make when mixed together. They go on nature walks on the grounds to find leaves and acorns and talk about the colors and animals they see.
He has been there 5 days a week full time since school started.
He brought home one crayon drawing and two paintings and I know he did some kind of cutting and pasting thing yesterday that will come home when it dries tomorrow.
I would more concerned that she is working on gross motor skills, socializing, songs and finger play, table mannars, building with blocks and imaginative play at this point. The projects are cute because we like them but, the other things are far more important for them, imo.

I guess what I am not explaining correctly is that I am not so much concerned with them having arts and crafts, I am more concerned with I have no communication as to what is going on each day. I thought by now I would be getting some kind of direction as to what is being done each day (whether its arts and crafts, nature walks, play time, songs etc). I dont need her to be doing Math BUT I would like some kind of an idea as to WHAT she is doing.

Re: What does your 3 year old do in Nursery School?
My girls come home with lots of projects, they only go 2x a week. Also, the teachers gives my mom a full report each day. After the first day the teacher called our house twice once to speak with my husband and once to speak to me about how great our children were doing and to give us the run down of their daily activities. She has also called me other times to give me a progress report.
Needless to say we are really happy with this school and I can see why there is a waiting list to get in.

Re: What does your 3 year old do in Nursery School?
We just started a new school so she has only been two times, and I've been with her so I saw what went on. She goes 2 days a week for 2.5 hrs. When they walk in they do table toys (play dough, blocks, puzzles, coloring) they have circle time (songs, days of week, letter of the week, season, dress weather bear, learning the spelling of their name) playground, when they do free play the teacher and assistant take two kids each and do a project. Last week they did a self portrait. Teacher had a mirror and asked them the color of their hair, eyes etc and they made a picture gluing cut outs. Free play (sand table, computer, kitchen area, book center etc) snack, closing circle. As a pre-k teacher i'm extremely happy with the daily schedule they are following.
They also send a daily letter home of what the children are learning/doing each day. Maybe you can ask for one? or maybe you can ask if you can drop in one day? I know this school has an open door policy so if you would like to stay you are more than welcome.
